Awesome place to visit anytime. Truely a natural place in the chaos of city. Sion Lake is must visit in day time. There are beautiful ducks, Fishes and Turtles in the lake. Lake is surrounded by eye-catching trees. Lake is located between two Forts. And there is a chanting temple of lord shiva besides the lake. Lake is said to have underground water fountains.

Sion is a railway station on the Central line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network, located in the Mumbai neighborhood of Sion. Its location near the Mithi River means that the railway between Sion and Kurla, directly to the north, has flooded frequently during the Indian monsoon. In 1543, the Portuguese took possession of the largely uninhabited islands of Bombay, naming it Sião, after a biblical hill in Israel. The Portuguese gave the Jesuit priests the sole ownership of some of these islands. The Jesuits then built a chapel on the hill near the present-day railway station and named it after Mount Zion (Sion) in Jerusalem. An area which has a Fort built before agesOne of oldest stations in mumbai. The station has importance from Portugal times. Has wall paintings done by various colleges including SIES College of Commerce and Economics. Station premises need more attention on cleaning. With renovations becoming better slowly but steadily. no halt for fast train. The only problem about this area is during monsoon times there is a lot of water blockages. Overall a nice area to live in and its near by BKC also.

Its is about time that this station get a whole makeover. Apart that. The station get 4 stars since it deserves because of the conversation that it provides. It is very convenient and located at a place which gives accessibility... The other side is that the makeover is needed since it is next to dharavi and 5he motor bridge and the walking path are both at same place. Creating congestion.

Sion has a history since 15th century. The Marathi name for Sion is Sheev which means boundary or limit. it shares its name with a railway station on the Mumbai suburban railway on the Central Railway line. Sion also has a bus station. It is in the central line. Here we have 8 facts and unknown history related with sion1 In the 17th century the village formed the boundary between Mumbai and Salsette Island. The British named it marking the end of the city. The name remained even after Mumbai was joined to the Salsette and extended up to Mulund. However now It is not the end of the city.2 In 1543, the Portuguese took possession of the islands of Bombay by force, naming it Sião. It was later prononced as sion.3 Ayurved College is an ayurvedic educational institute run by Ayurvidya Prasarak Mandal, situated beside Sion railway station in Mumbai. The college was founded in 1954. Each year the college organizes an annual event called Sheevmanthan.4 One of the local historical places here is a hilltop garden commonly known as Sion Fort or Killa in native language Marathi.5 Akshay Kumar, who has been listed by Box Office India as one of the most successful actors in the history of Indian cinema, is a former resident of sion.6 The Sion Hillock Fort is a fort in Mumbai. It was built under the regime of the English East India Company, between 1669 and 1677. When it was built, the fort marked the boundary between British-held Parel island and the Portuguese held Salsette Island. The hillock is situated 500 metres from the Sion railway station.7 Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital, locally known as “Sion Hospital”, is a general municipal hospital situated here. It was started in 1947 with 10 beds initially, which has now grown into multi-speciality hospital with more than 1,400 beds.8 Mithun Chakraborty, A well known actor and also MP of Rajya Sabha for West Bengal is also a former resident of sion.
