A historic and very beautiful site located on a hill called Shakar Parian Hill. This hill was host of a cabinet meeting held 1960 where it decided to construct a new city with the name of Islamabad in the lap of Margalla hills. The city was decided to be inhabited according to a Master Plan and quite suitable for a Capital of an Independent and developed prosperous and beautiful country. The Stone hosted that meeting is lying on Eastern View Point with engraved on it this historic statement. I have no hesitation to say that Shakar parian was the First Government Secretariat in Islamabad. Construction work was started after 2 years in 1962 when proper a Master Plan and other requirements completed. Shakar parian area was declared as National Park and a picnic park or spot was established this hill. This hill shakar parian is divided into to parts Eastern and Western parts. Eastern part was developed. It had reataurants parking paths lawns flowers areas road fountain and quite on top a lawn on its northern side planted beautiful bushes and cutting them like Margalla hills and a map of Islamabad in the centre was made according to Master Plan. Any body can assess the whole city area its location and shape of margala hills at this point. This Eatern View Point was abundantly used by film makers for picturisation of song on various beautiful heroines of Pakistani Film Industry. Those beautiful heroines dances were shooted there. Another important aspect of this side was an Internationl Garden, some area was levelled on extreme eastern end when space on top lawn finished. Every Foreign head who visited Pakistan planted a tree and a stone having name and designation of leader with date of planting the tree placed alongside the plant. Most of them have become now big and tall tree. Mostly pine trees were planted however some other plants are also there its a unique garden of its kind in the world. However the weatern view point was barren and no body dared to go to western view point it was totally silent peaceful and capture the aesthetics of a person who goes there. But i was use to go there in 1991& 1992 when i joined NUML Islamabad for doing a diploma in English Phonetics. However in 2005 Pervez Mushraf decided to build a National Monument as tribute to the Shuhdaa and leaders of Pakistan Movement. Hence Pakistan Monument and a National Museum construted there and inaugurated in 2007 now its have great attraction for peoples tourists and visitors. Its a beauty of Islamabad. Shakar Parrian can be said shakarpariaan.

A nice , well maintained vantage point overlooking isloo .... The gardens are extremely well designed and gives you a very calming sense of things ... However it is subject to the amount of people visiting the place .... Recommended to visit the place during the weekdays as it gets really crowded during the weekends at time
