Baradari of Kamran Mirza is famous tourism point in lahore.Baradari of Kamran Mirza, Kamran ki Baradari is a summer pavilion in Lahore, Pakistan. It was built in 1540 by Kamran Mirza, a son of first Mughal emperor Babur, and a brother of the second Mughal emperor Humayun. The building is believed to be the oldest existing Mughal structure in Lahore,  and is the only garden in Lahores Shahdara Bagh area that was not converted into a funerary monument. After Baburs death in 1530, Kamran Mirza seized Lahore and laid a garden in which the baradari was built in 1540. At the time of construction, the baradari was on the western bank of the River Ravi in the Shahdara Bagh region, though it now stands on an island in the middle of the river, due to shifts in the rivers course. The pavilion remained in use by Mughal royals until the 18th century. After the British annexed Punjab in 1849, the pavilion was turned into a tollhouse for boats crossing the river. It is also mentioned as Turgurhwallee Baradari in an 1867 map of Lahore, where it was shown located on the western bank of the river.Part of baradaris eastern façade had been damaged by floods by the 1850s, while the baradaris second story had also been damaged or dismantled around the same time. The pavilion sustained further damage by flooding in 1958. It was reconstructed in 1989 at a cost of 19.6 million rupees (about $1 million). After Baburs death in 1530, Kamran Mirza seized Lahore and laid a garden in which the baradari was built in 1540. The pavilion was originally two levels with 12 columns of vaulted balconies.

The baradari itself is in desolate condition but the surrounding gardens are relatively well maintained. The road leading to the baradari is absolutely awful, so its better to go by boat.

Kamrans Baradari is the ostensibly the earliest known Mughal monument in Lahore, said to have been built by Prince Kamran in the 1520s. However, the pavilion more likely dates to the reign of Shah Jahan (1627-58) as certain architectural features such as the use of cusped arches were not employed until Shah Jahans reign. The attribution of the structure to Prince Kamran likely derived from local oral traditions which were picked up by Latif when he collected material for his comprehensive book on Lahores architectural heritage in 1892.The baradari originally stood at the edge of the Ravi river, but over time the course of the river changed and the site became an island. Sometime over the course of the centuries the river flooded, taking half the baradari along with it. As Mughal buildings are generally symmetrical, it was possible for historians to infer the design of the lost portion and it was rebuilt in 1989 at a cost of 19.6 million rupees (about $1 million USD at the time). Unfortunately, the restoration extended to the remaining half and resulted in the total effacement of its surface decoration including the few fragments of original decoration to have survived. Of the gardens, very few traces survived in the late 20th century and a new garden based partially on Mughal motifs was built to the west of the Baradari.

Quite place you feel calm specially when you sit on the side of River Ravi and air hit on your face. But some steps must be taken by authorities are 1st one no proper track from Ravi River Bridge to Baradari and 2nd one is some peoples ruined the beauty of place by putting their compliments, signatures etc on the walls of Baradari. And major issue is some addicted person use this historical place in a negative way.

Historical site is well preserved and maintained, its a great recreational spot for picnic in suburbs of Lahore. Old mughal architecture and crafts work are muses for arts and literature aspirants. Wall chalking, lack of public toilets and security are main reasons I have deducted two stars from ratings.

Kamrans Baradari is extremely interesting building that often gets bypassed by tourists in Lahore. The main reason this building is so fascinating is because it’s extremely old. How old? Well records suggest it was built around 1540 by Emperor Humayun’s brother Kamran Mirza. That makes it one of the oldest major buildings in the entire history of the Mughal Empire. This place is located on an island in the middle of the river so it is necessary to travel by boat to get there.

This is a quiet historical place with rich architecture. Usually there are very few tourists out there. Its doors and windows are grand in manufacture. Adjacent lawns and fountains add beauty to the scenery. Its not a picnic place but is a place to just go and be lost in history.Mughals constructed it to enjoy moonlight peeping from river Ravi. There is one hurdle though. You have to cross the river on a boat to and from it.Boat persons charge Rs 500 to 2000 depending upon no of people. Not advisable in summers.Winters is best time to go there

A beautiful garden made by mughal emperor to his entertainment. It is a quite place away from noise and pollution. A boat ride is required to reach this tiny island in the river ravi. Boat owners will charge you 50 Rs per person for return trip and there is no cost for visiting the Garden though. The marble structures, pool and patterns of plantation still shows significance history.

It is called Kamran ki Baradari. Bara means twelve and dar means doors. Kamran ki baradari was a twelve door building on the bank of River Ravi.
