Very nice and beautiful place for musical concerts.

The open-air theatre was designed for large cultural activities. It has a seating capacity of 4500, backstage facilities, two smaller theatres/auditoriums (350-400 people), retail spaces, restrooms, VIP lounge, and rehearsal areas. The basic mass of the building is cylindrical. The commercial activities on the ground level provide financing for the building. The exterior of the building is made of red brick interspersed with courses of decorative patterns made of ceramic tiles or bevelled bricks. Small pairs of windows that bring light to the upper level passages make another horizontal pattern on the wall. On the parapet level, semi-circular arched openings run along the top of the wall. The building therefore, has a horizontal composition.The arena of the theatre is primarily hexagonal in shape. The transfer from the circular envelope to the hexagonal stage engendered two types of circulation patterns: one that runs radially from the centre to the periphery and the other runs parallel to the sides of the hexagon. The overlap of the sides of the hexagon resulted in the location of some seating sections slightly off from the centre. This helps to lighten up the effect of the centrality of the composition, by accentuating slightly oblong lines of sight. The basic design premise starts from the functional requirements of sight lines and acoustics. As the arena was to accommodate an audience of 4,500, seating all around the stage provides close range visibility for the maximum number of viewers. The arena concept of this building is a direct reference to what the architect perceived as old Greek and Roman theatres. The main building has a reinforced concrete column-and-beam structure with handmade brick infill and red-brick cladding with traditional red surkhi mortar. Brick courses are interspersed with decorative ceramic tile courses. The flooring is made from terrazzo.

Ease of access. Central lahore. Good for all seasons. Ample space for even concerts.

It is an open air theatre and most of the time local artists play live drama here. An air conditioned space, drama hall and a big car parking along with other facilities. Folk artists played south punjabs cultural drama, music and folk songs few days ago. It is awesome and we enjoyed the venue.

Good place for organizing cultural festivals

A cozy setup with a couple of halls under the briilliant amphitheatre.

Its great for wide range of function. Drama are not for educated peoples. They should consider to produce quality dramas for familys.

The Open Air Theatre is an extension of the Alhamra. The Ferozepur Road location was selected to take the pressure away from an overly congested Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam and to create a performing arts facility for the newly developed areas of Lahore i.e. Model Town, Faisal Town, Garden Town, Johar Town, Township, Gulberg and Defence, etc. The theatre sits in the midst of large green areas, at a stone’s throw from Lahore’s famous willow lined canal. Its imposing brick façade set with local regional features such as handmade Multani tiles is an interesting blend of the contemporary and the traditional classicism of the Roman coliseum. The multi-purpose theatre is designed to cater for drama, Music, cultural melas and large scale concerts.

Its a Great Place to sit and spend time watching at the stage

Small stage.The drama I watched was not a drma but a stand up comedy.I think dance of girls should be banned and producers should focus more on content.I also have suggestion to make a club of stand up comedians and make arrangements to motivates families to watch those comedy.

Excellent place for formal functions such as international culinary arts festival or school annul functions. Enough place for performance and for audience too. Wash rooms are well cleaned and water supply is regular. Do visit this place for live performance.

Alhamra open air theatre is a place where different functions related to music or school functions are held and this is located on mall road slightly ahead of wapda house,charing cross.behind it lies aiwan e iqbal at some distance.Next to it on mall road lies governor house.Before it lies zoo.

That was a great place but the only sad thing that I felt was the chairs etc that were provided to us which didnot meet the standard of Al Hamra at all.

Forget the chairs. .. bring your cushions with you and enjoy some of the best performing art and music events in amphitheatre. I love this place
