Child Protection and Welfare Bureau is one of sub Departments of Home Department. This bureau is specified for crime and well being of children. It provides shelter, rescue services, residence, education, sports facilities, food facilities to the resident children. It also tries to search for the families of lost children who are with Child Protection and Welfare Bureau. One of its most prominent cases was to return an Afghan child to its family. Many children who have been brought in jurisdiction of Punjab Province from other provinces have also been given back to their families. Other than rescued children, people also admit their children in Bureau so that Govt can bear expenses of residence, food, education of the admitted child/ children. At the moment there are around 450 children admitted in CPWB. They range from age of 01 Day to 18 years old.

It used to be open area. The government should have developed it into a park rather than Child Protection Centre which could be located elsewhere. Lahore city badly needs public parks.
