A historical place with many many secrets....I loved the location and architecture. But people need to be more clean and decent towards these places. As they throw garbage in streets. If they keep that area clean and clear....It would be really the most attractive place to visit.

Delhi Gate (Urdu: دہلی دروازه‬‎, Delhi Darwaza) is one of six remaining historic gates of the Walled City of Lahore, Pakistan. Delhi Gate and the adjacent Shahi Hammam were restored in 2015 by the Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan. The Delhi Gate was originally built during the Mughal period, and is now known as the Chitta Gate, about 100 metres west of the new Delhi Gate. The gate was named after Delhi since the gate opened east, in the general direction of that city.During the Mughal era, the gate served as the main gateway to Lahore, and its doors were shut every evening. The surrounding area includes several buildings of historical significance including the 17th century Wazir Khan Mosque, Shahi Hammam, and havelis. Delhi Gate also served as Union Council 27 (UC 27) in Tehsil Ravi of Lahore City District. The gate is a two-story structure which contains space for ten to twelve shops. This Building and area have own deep feel with the old buildings inside gate having 200+ years history and culture. Delhi gate known as Delhi Darwaza in urdu , It is the one of the Gate from 12 doors Of Walled City Lahore (Androon Lahore). When you enters the gate you will enter into Old City then you will find good structure of thay gate after that you will found a shahi hmam behind this gate. Shahi Hmam was constructed under the supervision of Mughal Eras. After walking some distance you will found a beautiful mosque (Muslims Prayer place) Mosque name Masjid Wazir khan. It has a beautiful design and place. According to new era and the rushy envoirnment linked market to that Old heritage buildings. You can found a best clothes in a bulk quantity. Delhi Gate was the most important of all the gates because the Mughals used it while travelling from Delhi to Lahore Fort. That is why the straight passage leading to Lahore Fort from this gate came to be known as ‘Royal Trail’ or Shahi Guzargah. Now imagine the past glory coupled with this gate, the royal guards standing at the gate, Mughal entourages passing through the streets and people leaning over the balconies and jharokas to take a glimpse of their royals, kings and queens and showering flowers

Delhi Gate, Walled City LahoreThe gates of Lahore old city were the crown jewels of its legendary history, with only six still standing.Life inside the walled city has its own culture, food & traditions. The city was established on the banks of the Ravi River centuries ago. Due to continuous invasions, pillage & attacks, a high brick wall built around it with 12 gates & one narrow passageway, bringing the total to 13.Gates:1. Taxali Gate;Invaders entered from the West & the first gate they would see was the Taxali, home of infamous old Red Light District. Famous for food street, historically an upper-class area. The subcontinent’s renowned musicians & singers belonged inside. The British demolished it for military reasons.2. Bhatti gate;Second gate on the western side. Old structure was demolished & rebuilt by the British. It remains a bustling center of commerce.3. Lahori Gate; The first gate constructed by Emperor Akbar. It faces Anarkali Bazar & remains a commercial hub to this day.Once, city’s richest dancers would reside here in beautiful palaces called Havelis. Also the first biggest international market of the sub-continent as Europeans began the business of buying indigo Dye here.4. Shah Alam Gate;Lovingly called Shahalmi by residents, original gate was destroyed. It was once a Hindu-dominated area & a hub of commerce. Even today, its one of Asias largest wholesale market.5. Mochi Gate;Inside, Shops sell dry fruit, fireworks & kites. The area is home to iconic Shi’ite buildings, network of narrow bustling #streets, from where the annual procession of Moharram begins. The British demolished the gate.6. Akbari Gate; This is a centuries’ old, even today, it is an important market for spices & grain. The British East India Company began its trade of spices from this very place. Original gate was demolished by the British.7. Delhi Gate; The famous ‘Delhi Darwaza’ is situated on the eastern side & opens in the direction of Delhi in India.8. Kashmiri Gate;Named because of its direction toward the valley of Kashmir. It houses one of the biggest cloth markets in Asia, Azam Cloth Market.9. Yakki Gate; The last gate on the eastern side, where several Mughal courtiers spent their lives, with the remains of their Havelis still existing. Demolished during the British Raj.10. Khizri or Sheranwala Gate;Constructed on the banks of the Ravi river, with residents traveling by boats. Gate still stands but in a abandoned state.11. Masti Gate; The Mughals used this gate to reach the fort. At present, its a wholesale & retail market for shoes.12. Roshnai Gate; The only gate that has survived with its grandeur intact. It was used by notables, courtiers & the elite to attend court.13. Mori Gate;To the south, it has not been considered a gate in any historical writing but the people of Lahore always counted it as the 13th gate. The significance of these gates has been lost with the passage of time, Now they have heritage value & are used solely for symbolic purposes.
