Have been going there for a while,, Doctors are not bad, charges r high .. but overall my visits have always helped me.. so would recommend. Dr Umer is hard to meet now. He should understand if people is coming from overseas just to see him so try to give them priority because they can’t wait for 2 3 months for the appointment.

Amazing medical Institute. Doctors are highly qualified and very responsible. The nurses are well trained and have an amazing attitude towards patients. The staff is really helpful. The department of surgery is top notch. All the patients with orthopaedic issue and surgical demands are recommended to visit this place. The rates are very reasonable as compared to other medical care providers in the city. Very neat and clean department. I must say that its very rare to get such a service in this country.

Small handy little hospital come diagnostic Center. This is a side part project of Southcity Hospital. They have good doctors and an excellent Physiotherapy department but I would recommend this place for ER visits.

AVOID AVOID - Though Dr Umar is qualified practioner but unfortunately like most others now he have heavily commercialised his profession and its all about making more money. Long waiting queues, overbooked patients, looking after 2 to 3 patients at a time is usual. Dont forget about unnecessary recommendations for surgerys and delay tactics to get frequent visits are most common with practice. Also you can only discuss one issue at a time. My mum had dislocated shoulder and a knee issue, and she has been asked several times to book multiple appointments for each problem. Obviously to charge for every visit and make his practice look busy.I will be making formal complaint against him to ensure such people do not exploit people in need.Note: There are other several qualified doctors that can provide better treatment so please avoid!

IoS is one of the few really good orthopaedic hospitals in Karachi. The main reason for its fame is Dr Umer who owns and manages this institute. He is one of the most well renowned orthopaedic surgeons who have been in the business since the past 2 decades at least. Being trained as a surgeon in the U.S. he has enough experience to give a patient confidence which is requiredI recently got my mother operated through him. It was a total knee replacement (TkR) surgery whereby here righr knee was replaced. Though the doctor and team also works at South City Hospital, i chose IoS due to proximity, lesser cost and convenience. Having said that i could observe that thos decisions had its downsides.IoS is being managed in a very cost conservative manner whereby the management makes sure to cut corners wherever possible to save money. The procedure of a TKR is PKR 550,000/- (4 nights stay at the facility in a private room of normal standards) which you pay in advance before the patient is admitted. If you add post care, physiotherapy etc then the figure reaches PKR 600,000+/-. For the record, if I were to get the same surgery done at South City Hospital then it would have taken me back anywhere from PKR 525,000 -- 650,000 (depends on the package taken : general ward, semi private, private, deluxe and VIP). Note to Entrepreneurs: Education and health-care are the most promising business sectors in Pakistan for times to come which have least regulations with immense profit prospectsOnly after getting admitted & paying such a hefty amount, you find that basic hospital aspects like 3 meals for the admitted patient, access to clean water, parking space for attendants / visitors, fridge in room, working cafe for attendants, wifi access, operational fans etc are missing. After complaining, you find that the management and Dr Umer doesnt believe in having a working kitchen / cafeteria or in hiring a full time cook for patients. Obvious reasons being cost saving and to make patients along with their families feel miserable. Every meal time, I had to rush out to buy food for myself and mother or ask my wife to bring fresh food all the way from home.I kept forcing the visiting doctors to introduce such basic facilities which to my surprise were never taken seriously. Later i realized that I must not be the first patient to have said so to them.Barring all these things, the orthopaedic team is well rounded and post care is reasonably good. However the absence of basic things for patient welfare leave a bad after taste in peoples mindRating: 7.5 / 10 (purely for negligence)
