Getting your license takes a lot of time everywhere across the globe. The situation in Islamabad is below average unfortunately. There is room for improvement but I doubt any action will be taken.In order to get your license you must first make sure the back of your CNIC or NICOP has the address of IslamabadYou must then create a copy for your CNIC card which can be availed by the photocopier at the entrance. Proceed to create a learners permit and after 42 days youll be eligible for the driving and signs test failing any of which will result another 10 days before trying againThe photocopied CNIC will contain the token number, the most time consuming part is waiting for your turn at the counter for the learners permit, there are 2 counters for the elderly, 2 counters for driving test and the remaining counters process the learners permit. Also bring 2 - 3 photographs of yourself and some cash.

Covid19 protocols are being followed rigorously. Facility is closed for public currently but emergencies are catered for. Working is efficient and smooth.

Islamabad Traffic Police office is providing one window operations for applying new Driving License and renewal services.The staff is very professional, proactive, helpful and cooperative.Visitors may keep in view the Covid-19 pandemic and practice all precautionary measures, cooperate with the staff.They are there to serve you with a smile but mostly the visitors do not comply with.They go an extra mile to help and assist you with.Working hours may slightly vary from actual hours in the wake of Covid-19.Its always advised to have couple of CNIC copies in hand to save your time.Know your blood group in advance. If possible keep a documented proof of your blood group.For non Islamabad residents keep a proof of stay at Islamabad to avoid any inconvenience.Get prepared for the Traffic Laws test by computer.Get prepared for a physical driving test beforehand.All above preparations will save you a lot of time and a smooth submission of application.Have patience and follow the rules.If one follows above precautions,Im pretty sure it will be a pleasant experience applying and getting a Driving License. Dont go onto office building or fixture but they are serving the people well, all ur inquiries are well listened and smooth action is taken

Courteous staff, but no SOPs imposed. Even I forgot to bring my mask, couldnt find one nearby, but nobody asked of it. So i entered without it, many officials and public was without masks as well. Anyways as always there was too much rush so one has to waste a lot of time to get things done.

They are facilitating 250 person per day only which is very low. Only People who show up at 0630 in the morning are able to get token and granted entry in the facility. Pathetic service by islamabad traffic police.

Although the office was closed for public due to COVID 19 but dealing of the staff was excellent for guidance.

Very very bad service by ITP.its no doubt My worst experience ever.Official timing is 9am to 5pm.Today on 5 October 2020 I reached ITP office at 7:50 am.They didnt allow any body to enter at that time .They said they daily entertain 250 peoples only and it was already full with 250 peopled.They should update this situation on there website so people specially Government Servants dont waste there time by visiting there.

One of the worst experience! Took a token stood for almost 5 hours and in the end they said sorry your CNIC isnt updated in Nadra please go there. I am an overseas Pakistani who came to Pakistan thinking that the Naya Pakistan would be different. There is no difference. If any overseas Pakistani is reading this dont be fooled. Its the same old Pakistan. Extremely bad service.. extremely bad system... No SOP being followed. I have a driving license of Saudi Arabia for past 10 years and still I have to go through all this hassle. Why should we overseas Pakistani come to Pakistan? You treat us so extremely bad. Disappointed!

I am standing infront of my car in parking area . In f11 service road. The ITP officers force my to go in car.cant standing out side. I m waiting for some body. Can i ask u the reason. Why he talk with me like that.

If you want to get your license issued, make sure you get here before 9 AM. It will take approximately 2 hours to get your turn at ths main counter.The process includes getting a token number written on the CNIC copy outside the center.Then they let you in the building and provide you a computer issued token.From here begins the never ending wait for your turn at the counter.Good part is that you get almost all services (excluding written & driving tests) on one counter.Staff try to be polite, but since they are policemen they will be rude & authoritative.

Clonial era kings & slaves mentality. Overcrowded. Parking lot in very bad condition. Poor customer service. They should open at least 5 more offices in ISB.

Still a lot needs to be improved.Extremely pathetic system. No proper queue/line.Attitude is not friendly of few staff members.Timings written on the billboard is incorrect.Correct Timing is from 9AM till 11AM.This timing should be increased.There are very few shades for public to sit and there are no fans or ACs to kill the heat.Overall area is very dirty.

21 july 2020 i went to office itp. fazool ka chkkr para. Itni door say mein gya tha.Whats the point of eid holidayd too early. If rawalpindi office was operating. How they were on off. Still no notification on website about services being resumed.

Extremely busy, mostly disorganized but that has more to do with the visitors. Staff did what they were supposed to do.

System has allot of room for improvement. There should be NO breaks. There should be a processing speed banchmark. I came at 10am. Its 3:30 and I am still waiting for my turn. A little more guidance will also be welcomed.

The office will be opened back on 15th September, 2020 with usual working timings of 0830AM to 1100AM (For Tokens).This should be clearly indicated on their pathetic website, i have to visit office to just confirm their schedule.

My licence would be over by this 21may 2020Needed to get renewal ,checked their website about to know are they working or off in this pandemic situation called them by given no since 2dayz but no waz engaged in tone️Checked their visiting hours & finally this morning reached there at 9am but alas as reached there got to know office iz closed till 31st May 2020.Now a dayz as ramzan here its really hard for House wife to get up early after sehar & all stuffI don’t know who’s operating this site ,hardly the checked wt’s going oN.

One window operation is good. It takes 2hour for renewal of license.1150rs charges for renewal. I went at 10am got the token number 244 which came at 11.30am. Card printed and received at 11.45am.

Closed till September 15,If they cant manage their staff and people to follow Covid - SoPs they should go/step up for Online. Phone numbers they provided are always BUSY.

The guys at ITP are doing their very best with the available resources but it still takes almost 3-4 hours to get the learner or to renew the license.

Well, whenever we talk about Traffic police we try to be careful and try to put all our necessary tools in the bag ie license, helmet, cnic etc just in case :) Anyways, I went there to renew my license. Being a government office and the culture we as a nation are normally used to, to my surprise they have a much better process. Though it was slightly mismanaged but overall the process is smooth and quite swift. To be very honest, our nation needs to be educated in so many ways - still the team over there managed the process like experts and things are done in one day whereas I still remember it used to be few days time and hassle to get it renewed. Good work and job well done !

Went for renewal of my driving license at 8 a.m. and was free by 9 a.m. along with the renewed license. Certainly a wow experience. Keep it up ITP.

This is great initiative by Islamabad Traffic Police. Which is one of the best traffic police in all over the world. They are launching new one window hall operation for issuance of driving license. But unfortunately they are so lazy or unprofessional behavior in sense of administration, No doubt they are so capable but in supervisor or administration level they are much more dishonest which is make the reasons for a lot of complaints by visitors. Maximum counters are mostly closed no body can operated these windows while a lot of walking visitors in this office, so thats why public waiting a lot of time, otherwise staff has so calm and cool, cleaning or maintainance is good, The training session or motivational class are brilliant specially for educate the general public, because they need to like these lectures or seminars for importance of traffic rules and regulations for safe the lives.

This is the place that builds the image of our country. I have seen a lot of foreigners coming here and literally abusing and cribbing the system. If this is the state in Federal Capital, I wonder the state of affairs in other cities. These systems should be made online, proper management should be carried out and THERE SHOULD BE NO HOURLY BREAKS IN SUCH PLACES.

Get your Islamabad driving licence from this place. The facility of photocopier is available in the vicinity. Several booths are operating at a time to assist fast process of licence issuance.IMPORTANT:~ Cannot bring your own car inside for test~ CNIC should have Islamabad address on it~ Test car is available in both manual and automatic modes

If anyone is visiting for new driving license you should be there exact 8 am, 8 am to 11 am is entering time after 11 am entry is closed

Someone has put in efforts to make it a modern and orderly office. Unfortunately we derail the best of systems.First of all you will not find instructions written anywhere. I went for a license renewal at about 12 o clock and was told that all tokens are issued only till 11 am. But it doesnt say that in any notice board there. So I went there the next day. I received a handwritten token. I had to ask where to go then. I was told sir in the waiting area which was a tin roof with wooden benches.After that you wait for a policeman to call out batches of 20 numbers to go in the main building. Nobody tells you unless you ask that there is lunch break from 1pm to 2 pm.When you finally enter the main building you find out that the handwritten token is now useless and you have to go to another person who takes out a printout token with a new number. You are required to have photocopy of your NIC to get that token. You then more onto the better seating waiting area. Your number is called for medical. You go to counter 2 where a doctor asks you if your eyesight is ok. Thats it. He stamps your CNIC copy and then you wait again for your number to be called. Total nine windows but 2 right windows (10 & 11) appear to be reserved for under-the-table applicants as their number calling is out of turn much ahead of other windows. Actual process at the window is efficient and takes 3-5 minutes. You pay fees at the same place. Total time required, around 2.5 hrs.

Poor managment my issue are resolved but too much time he need dont know why...Only 10 counter are working need some large system.

My experience was absolutely amazing, one of the best department in Islamabad.

I went today to get a car learners license... And there was a long line for token outside the office.. even at 9 in the morning... after 30 minutes i got my number in 200s.. then from 9.30 till 11 I had to wait in the shade for my number to get in the main hall... In main hall i got another token.. and had to wait till 12.30 to get my turn... Counters were working fast.. But overall it took me 4 hours just to get a learners permit..You only need originical cnic card with islamabad address and one photocopy with Rs 350 to get learners permit..Ithink its better to reach office before 9 am.

Great and easy process. But you have to come at 8:30am. in the morning to be free by 10am. The token timings are from 8:30 to 9. Renewal cost was pkr 1050.

ITP lisence procedure is poor, They gotta issued 20 classes to each candidate,bcz nobody knows wat rules are . Later on they should take complete test such as theory,parking and final road test.

You may need to have a whole spare day to go there and have your thing done.I was applying for a mere Learners driving license for which i waited 2 hrs to get inside office and another 3 hrs to get into counter.A total inefficient and incompetent staff with an unpleasant behavior, would treat you as they are so grateful bestowing a favor upon you.

I went for a road test at I8 branch and its absolutely nonsense that the road test they give you is how to park in the garage and reversing the car etc. it has nothing to do with the safety and security of driving. As you see the public how they drive its just horrible. No one is abiding the rules and regulations of traffic signs etc. Its important for them to take you on the road for a road test rather they are interested in how you back up and park in garage etc this is absolutely nonsense. Something has to be done about it. Islamabad has the worst drivers ever in the world yet its so difficult to get a drivers licence in the capital city very sad

Had a poor experience applying for a drivers license - the place has no instructions given anywhere and a person can easily end up losing time because of this. Once you do figure out where to go, you have to wait for a long time (1-2 hours minimum), both in and outside the main hall, before its your turn. The driving test you take is a joke and the cars provided are in miserable conditions.

Had good experience. Place was OK. Waiting area capacity should be improved along with its condition. Procedure was bit slow, although it is digitised. ITP should consider dispatching driving licence at home!

Its an organized office. But you have to come before 11 am to get your licence renew.The biggest problem is no proper washrooms worthy of capital office.

Pathetic! So much rush here almost every day. Staff here is not very cooperative. The car which they test you on is a khatara Mehran, better take your own car if you really want to pass the test.

Very crowded place, too much waiting, first to wait out side of the office for hours and then to wait inside the office for atleast one and half hour, whenever you need to visit so come along with your NIC copy .... and more thing HTV driving test will be at Faiz abad office not here...

Please review your license system as it is completely flawed and inefficient.1. No signs indicating the requirements of making a new license/renewing an old one. I waited in the entrance line for 1 hour before finding out that I was missing documents. After returning and waiting another 1 hour in line, I found out that I was missing another document. Waste of 2 days and 4 hours.2. Excessive wait times inside the driving school. First you wait outside, just to get in (approximately 1 hour), then you wait for 1 hour before speaking to someone. When your turn arrives, they ask you to take a 5 minute eye test and its back to waiting for another 1 hour. After that, they finally speak with you and process your license within 10 minutes. So for 15 minutes of interaction, there is a 3 hour wait?3. Driving course is flawed and does not teach correct driving processes. It is 1 hour long and includes pictures of gore (including a recently deceased child and a headless motorcyclist). How is that appropriate for younger audience? Also, after 3 hours wasted before reaching the driving course aspect, it is not possible to do all of this in a single day. At least two days are required, making this process even more inefficient.4. Road test is completely useless. They ask you to sit in a manual car with a destroyed gearbox and ask you to literally drive in a straight line and then reverse it. How is that a test? The tester is a policeman who isnt even paying attention and will only fail you if you take too long. Most of the time he isnt even looking, just calling out names. Motorcycle test is a simple yes/no question. There is no motorcycle involved at all.5. There is a sudden 1 hour long break where all operations completely stop. Instead of dividing the breaks to not interrupt operations, they take an hour long break, completely unannounced. Prepare for another waste of 1 hour.It is no surprise that most of the Pakistani drivers either drive without a license or buy one through bribery as the legitimate way is painstaking and useless. Road etiquette is lacking and rules are not being followed and it is the Islamabad Traffic Polices fault and no one else. It took me a total of 4 trips and over 12 hours to convert a superior foreign license into a Pakistani one (which ironically has the words: Say no to corruption printed on it).If you are going to visit them for any reason, my only advice is to be mentally prepared for an exhausting and frustrating task. Also, bring a book for the long waits.
