The mission of QAU botanical garden is to promote scientific education, research, public awareness and conservation by increasing the diversity of plants on campus in order to transform the knowledge to local industries and formers. This botanical garden would act as an institution that holds documented collection of living and preserve plant specimens for the purpose of scientific research and educaiton. This botanical garden is planned to establish green house, glass house, seed bank, herbarium, botanical nurseray for public and scientific awareness. Botanical garden spread on 25 Acres which is scientifically divided into family wise cultivation i.e. Citrus garden, Rose garden, vegetables farm, ornamental flowers, medicinal herb center, aromatic plants sites, gymnosperms, lower plants sites and sites for research crops. This botanical garden will contribute toward infrastructure development to institutional capacity building in QAU. The large number of students will get benefits from this garden every year.

The project of Botanical Garden is a part of 15 years vision plan (2005-2020) for Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad. The PC-1 project is being established as funded by Higher Education Commission (HEC) under the title QAU Botanical Garden for evaluation and conservation of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants. The general objectives of developing QAU botanical garden are to develop industrial liaison especially with pharmaceutical and neutraceutical industries and provide teaching and research facilitates to M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. students.The mission of QAU botanical garden is to promote scientific education, research, public awareness and conservation by increasing the diversity of plants on campus in order to transform the knowledge to local industries and formers.
