Its a color changing statue.. so its best to go there in the evening.. There are different types of boats with different ticket prices. You can ride a ferry or cruise..its best experience. If you are going to Hyderabad, visit to this lake is must..

The Buddha Statue of Hyderabad is a monolith located in India. It is the worlds tallest monolith of Gautama Buddha, erected on Gibraltar Rock in the middle of Hussain Sagar.Hyderabad is the capital of the state of Telangana (separated from Andhra Pradesh on 2 June 2014). Between 1983 and 1989, N. T. Rama Rao served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. During his tenure, he spent large sums to erect several statues of people from the regions political and religious history. During his visit to New York, he saw the Statue of Liberty and was inspired by the efforts to restore it. He said I wanted something like that great place to visit... That would have been my contribution to society.Rama Rao chose to depict Gautama Buddha because he was a humanitarian who told the whole truth to the people. It is our pride. After a long search, he found a solid white granite rock near Raigiri, Bhongir(Nalgonda District) on a mountainside 46 km outside Hyderabad. In October 1985 NTR inaugurated work on structure. For over a year, hundreds of labourers helped the temple architect and builder S.M.Ganapathi Sthapati create the statue. After five years and the expenditure of US$3 million, the statue stood at 58 feet (18 m) and weighed 350 tons, making it the worlds tallest monolithic statue of the Buddha. A concrete platform measuring 15 feet (4.6 m), now referred to as the Rock of Gibraltar, was constructed in the middle of Hussain Sagar to aid in erecting the statue. The roads of the city were also widened for this purpose. This statue is located at Lumbini Park in the Hussain Sagar Island can be reached by boat in 15 minutes. The statue is near to Lakdi-Ka-Pul, Khairatabad and Assembly Hyderabad metro stations. The accidentThen government of Andhra Pradesh led by N. T. Rama Rao was ousted in 1989. By the next year, the statue was ready for erection. ABC Limited, a local company, was given the responsibility of transferring the statue onto the concrete platform. Using a trailer vehicle, the statue was brought to the shore of Hussain Sagar. On 10 March 1990, company workers shifted the statue on top of a barge. After traveling only 100 yards (91 m), the statue tipped and fell into the lake. The accident killed 10 people. After a two-year salvage operation, the statue was pulled out of the lake. On 1 December 1992, the statue was installed on the platform successfully. In 2006, the Dalai Lama consecrated the statue after performing a ritual.

The Buddha Statue is located in centre of the Hussainsagar Lake in the city. It is a amazing tourist attraction for the people in the city. You only reach the statue via boat or ship that takes you there, the cost of the same is not very high. You can reach the statue and return by via the ships or boat which are very frequently available. You will also find beautiful engravings below the statue. Also you must visit the statue during sunset for best experience, you will be able to see the beautiful lighting after sunset. The food is not so tasty here, you can easily eat at any restaurant near the area.

Nothing much to see around the statue. You go there by ferry arranged at the cost of Rs 55 per person. It is also not that much exciting as it just take you there and get you back with 10 minutes of stay. However, scenes become pleasant in the night when it covered with lights and cool breeze. There is a shop in the park where you can get something to eat if you want else nothing much at the Buddha statue spot.

The place is known as hussain sagar lake itself if u wanna reach here u will be offered a tour bus or a rickshaw but its better to take cab instead ola or uber because they charge u lesser than the rickshaw man even for a short distance they take 100 or more rs. Dont trust them if they tell u to visit some shops while they drive u in search of hydrabad pearls bcz they have a tie up with the shop they take u. They get commission for it. And they arent even completely original and cost more. The buddha statue is in the center of the lake.U have to buy a seperate ticket for the boat which takes u there. The boat is safe and takes as many people asmany seats are there. And compulsory life jackets are to be worn which will be given on the boat itself. The boat drops u and leaves and there are continuously same batches of people coming there in time interval. There is only a statue and u can find coffee stands also.I suggest to visit at night due to lighting in the park .Dont forget to take a look next to the statue in the lake itself is our indian national flag ( largest Indian flag ).Except the statue there will be jewelry stands who sell oxidized jewelry for cheap rates than the shops. And rides for kids. And there will be dine in restaurants at the exit . All the restaurants are great. Their food is great for the price.

To view the statue there is no entry ticket. You can stay as long as you can at statue. The most amazing thing is that, you have eateries at the statue. Hussain Sagar lake and the Buddha Statue are prominent tourist destinations in Hyderabad. The lake, which is the largest hard shaped mark in the world, derives it’s name from Hussain Shah Wali, the man who designed it across a tributary of Musi river during the reign of Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah in 1563.Standing at 58 feet (18 meters), Buddha Statue of Hyderabad is the world’s largest monolith of Gautama Buddha - erected on Gibraltar rock. NT Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh during his visit to the US was inspired by the Statue of Liberty in New York and decided to have a statue of someone who is relevant in the region.Works on the statue were started in 1985 after a large solid white granite rock was identified near Raigiri in Bhongir. In 1990 when the statue was being taken to be erected, it tipped and fell into the lake killing 10 people. After several glitches, the statue was erected on December 1, 1992 and was consecrated by Dalai Lama in 2006. There are boat rides from Lumbini Park to reach the statue. Entry fee to Lumbini Park is Rs 20 for adults and Rs 10 for kids. For boat rides which take tourists to the statue, fee is Rs 50 for adults and Rs 30 for kids. For speed boats, Rs 350 for a family of four is the fee.Caution: If you are willing to bear the foul smell (measures are being taken to contain it) because of the drainage water in the lake, a visit to the Buddha Statue is a must. #DayOut #Buddha #GautamaBuddha #BuddhaStatue #Hyderabad #HussainSagar #Lake #HeartShaped #DalaiLama #NTR #Telangana #India #Travel #Explore #Learn #History #GloriousPast
