This is a fantastic art gallery in the historic walled city of Lahore. It is a project of the Babar Ali Foundation and is located in one of the Ali familys ancestral havelis, located in the Bazaar e Hakimaan. Syed Babar Ali and his family are great patrons of art and education as they have helped in establishing the leading business school LUMS, a technical college called the Ali Institute and the Naqsh Art Complex. Their dedication has always impressed me. The purpose of this art complex is to preserve the traditional skills of Pakistan and to provide an opportunity to the less priveleged men and women of the walled city to acquire traditional art education. Classes are held here for calligraphy, painting and drawing, sculpture, miniature and of naqashi or arabesque. Naqsh is an excellent place to see how traditional art and craft are made. It is also a great place to buy original art pieces at very reasonable rates. Do visit this gallery if you are interested in Pakistani and Indian art techniques. I loved to see the artisans in action. I felt that it was a place like the Cafer Aga Art Complex in Istanbul.

Wed like to suggest a few things to people interested in visiting this place... through Google mapsa) the inaccessible and tight streets in and around this locationb) the times of the day when traffic flow is not congested e.g the early hours of the morning around 9pm or soc) the fact that there are virtually no street signs to assure you if you are heading in the right direction
