Brilliant peace of architecture from history. However about people in GPO are almost cooperative if you cooperate with them here there are all types of offices related about Post office in ancient times it has too much importance but as of now people use it also but not like previously there are almost offices of provincial level where one could reslove his/her matters. GPO is too much awesome due to its historical importance and also it is located on historical route (Mall road) where almost all historical structures are located however it has its own appearance in this route. Some people just visit it just for enjoyment because it has a historical background and outlook also. On the other side of GPO theres PLI building related for peoples insurance mainly for govt employees havingGroup Insurance from whole province. There is a mosque also for religious prayers. It also has public toilets. The GPO tower has its own Granger from outside and inside as well as. Theres parking facility also here

My visit was about a parcel from China, got proper response from the staff, beside system is not up to date but they guided me well enough to get the information which I was seeking. Building exterior is extra ordinary fascinating, may be because I like old architecture. Anyhow overall a satisfactory visit.

The Pakistan Post Office without any notice has increased the rates of parcels, COD charges and VPP. These rates are almost equivalent to private courier companies. The private sector is giving 100 times better service as compared to Pakistan Post. The boxes made by the Pakistan Post are of inferior quality. Now in this era Pakistan Post is unable to provide facilities to the customers. It is running on the same pattern as the government institutions used to run. The people have to wait for hours and hours in the queue to wait for their turn. Lack of staff is commonly seen.Staff is rude and there is no check on them. No modern techniques have been adopted to track the post. Shortage of post men is a major issue. Same traditional methods of sealing the documents and parcels are being observed. It means that post office staff is dishonest. How the private sector take the goods safely without sealing the parcels. No action is taken on the hue and cry of the public. Now the public who is aware of the rates of the courier companies have shifted to them because rates have almost reached the rates of private companies. There are no seating arrangements in the post offices. Some post offices give a look of garbage house. What the hell it is? The senior officers are relax and take sunbath in the winters. Do not listen to the complaints nor give suggestions to their seniors to improve the conditions of the post offices. Many post offices do not accept the heavy parcels as the staff is unable to deliver the good to the head office. They have no conveyance to take the parcels to the head post office. The public at large is facing problems with the behavior of the staff and increase in shipment cost but the government is unaware of such problems.

It’s a historical architecture which was designed by Sir Ganga Ram during British India, initially a telegraph office but now country’s biggest post office. It has a special commemorative stamp section in there too. Make sure to take a copy of CNIC if you’re sending something abroad, otherwise they won’t let you send it.If you get something imported from abroad, then expect to pay heavy custom duty on it. Anything with an IMEI no. requires an NOC from PTA which you can obtain from them for a fee. On top of that you’ll also need to pay steep custom duty to the post office. The staff is ok if not great. There is literally no parking outside the office, and you’ll need to find it nearby somewhere.
