Two decades old and still going strong. Hats off to owner for his commitment to excellence & persistence. Karachites don’t need any intro to this place. It is for rest of the country & global visitors to enjoy mix of both worlds & more towards classic European cuisine. Seafood is highly recommended with amazing choice of options. Advance reservation is must. Dinners at least two days in advance, lunch can be a day notice.

Okra – Consistently the best fine dining restaurant in Karachi. The menu comes without a price; but so is the food there, priceless. Beef, chicken, seafood – all cooked to perfection with balanced flavor in almost every dish I’ve tried so far. The only place which is up there to compete with top international restaurants.The place is a quaint little eatery with pleasing pastel interior. Dear God! This place is good. The map says Okra but this is Test Kitchen by Okra. Like the baby version of Okra but an over achieving version. Try the steak on sour dough and the Portuguese Tart. However, everything is exceptional. Timings are Noon to 8pm. Its very difficult to get a table so prepare to wait. Theres no reservations.

Okra. Always expect an exceptional service here. But it was a once a year affair for me, mostly because my taste buds are 90% desi. Im always tempted to sprinkle chaat masala on Mediterranean cuisine wherever Ive had it . Except on the fillet steak with creamy garlic prawns pictured here, it bursted with flavors. Other items: lamb shank with saffron risotto, and chili prawns and avocado salad, washed down with some sparkling water and followed by one of the most authentic tiramisu for dessert. Good meal

Theres something truly Devine about the food at Okra. It leaves your soul drenched with the wholesome goodness and it lingers with you (4 days in my case). If you havent had it yet, youre lucky, as you will be able to have it for the first time (and you dont crave for it every day). Itll leave you in awe like the first love of your life.

I’ve been doing food photography for the past several months and I have covered quite a few restaurants in Karachi. I’ve been inside kitchens, experienced behind the scenes of quite a few and made a lot of friends. I recently got the opportunity to cover one of the oldest and well known restaurants of Karachi and I was amazed to see how the owner, Ayaz Saab runs his place. Shooting Okra is truly an experience worth sharing with all of you which is why I’m giving my review about his restaurant, and no doubt it’s the best in Karachi. From the inside of the kitchen, to the staff, the ambiance and the food is a 10/10. I have never seen a kitchen so clean, the food being prepared so professionally till it’s served on the table by waiters wearing crisp white shirts. The reason to write this review is to appreciate their efforts of maintaining the food and restaurant quality since 18 to 20 years and I would definitely ask all of you to visit and experience this for yourself!

Excellent food, probably the best restaurant in Pakistan. Lots of off the menu items as well. If you have a continental favourite, do ask! One of the few places which serves excellent Paella in Pakistan.

If there is one restaurant in Pakistan which is worthy of a Michelin star, this is it. Expect to fork Rs 5000/= a head for a decent meal.

I have always been a huge fan of okra.the food never disappoints, I tried the ribs today and absolutely loved them. They were cooked to perfection and tasted amazing.the staff was very professional, friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back. Highly recommend this place.

Hands down one of the best places to dine in Karachi. From the ambiance to the menu to the food everything is on point. Everything tasted great, we tried the chilli prawns with avocado, lamb shank and shack style burger. The panna cotta has been the best dessert of my life, definitely a must have.

Incredible restaurant offering fantastic European foods with modern touches.Meals begin with the most fantastic crafted breads, with fresh butter, chili and olives oils, balsamic vinegar and roasted garlic. It was tough not to fill up on just the bread as it alone was a cut above the rest. I wanted to take a loaf home.Starters were incredible. We ordered numerous dishes and really no matter what you go with, youll be hard pressed not to enjoy the food because it is really well prepared. I had the salmon pouches, the goat cheese and fresh fig salad, the buffalo mozzarella, the smoked mackerel, the crab salad and the portobello mushrooms. I really recommend all of them but the mushrooms and the smoked mackerel are a must try.The mains were delicious and I must recommend the lobster (although the portion was small and I would have been happier to pay more for a larger size), the fillet with the sauce (medium rare was perfection and the umami and flavor of the sauce was a great addition), and the special saffron, prawn and truffle risotto with zucchini.Finally desert consisted of many dishes from the fantastic creme brulee (widely a favorite), the chocolate gatteux, the flourless chocolate cake, the chocolate lava cake and the orange sorbet. We also had the tiramisu and it was my personal favorite due to how unique but flavorful it was. Im not a big fan of ultra sweet deserts and this was perfect!We finished the meal with some varied teas and it rounded things out wonderfully.We had 3 vegans in our party and the chefs varied many dishes to suit the dietary restriction while maintaining the flavor of each. Everything was done to a very high level as one would expect from such a high end fine dining restaurant. They really did meet and exceed expectations.Overall, the best culinary experience you can have in Karachi in my opinion. I could see this restaurant doing well in any major international city, from New York to London, as it really is fantastic and stands out.

A fine dining experience in Karachi! The place is small but cosy, and definitely worth a trip to if youre visiting town. Parking nearby is tough to find, so better use the valet.Do reserve your table in advance though to avoid any hassle.P.S. If youre looking for recommendations you might wanna try the steak there. This place is like a little heaven for fine diners. Good food and great service, albeit the restaurant is a little small. But the taste is exquisite!

Great ambience though you can get similar quality food at a bit less price. The bread was amazing and they knew what medium rare is. Would recommend it for special occasions and call up beforehand if you have children in your party.

While I loved my grilled chicken croissant here, I didnt get why ppl would go to such an expensive place multiple times a month! Their hot chocolate was amazing but there are places like butlers and coco9 in Karachi that do similar versions so nobodys missing out on anything. Id definitely go back for the Iranian cottage cheese because that tasted out of this world! Also love their desserts that can be picked up on the go. All that being said, okra is a must-have experience for food lovers but dont go thinking this place would change my views about food and dining out. Keep it chill and casual and enjoy the experience with average expectations.

One of my favourite places to go. Service is exceptional and detail to attention is always consistent.The only down side is getting a reservation and cramped seating space.

Slow service, rude phone attendants and over priced. The ambience is decent but the seating is extremely cramped. Uncomfortable and noisy. Places like Flo, DAlma, etc offer similar quality at lower or equal rates with better service, higher quality of food and better seating/ambience.

We visited Okra after many years, primarily due to the fact that we could never get preferred reservation dates and there were many other high-end restaurants to easily enjoy.Our re-connection with Okra was an excellent experience. It looked like time had stopped - the decor and ambiance was just the same as we had left it, so long ago. And we had forgotten how good the food really was!Our starter, the chilli prawns in avocado was superb and their signature steak entrees were subtly favoured and smoothly delicious. But the star of the evening was the rack of lamb which literally melted in my mouth, flavoured with a delicate sauce!For the final flourish, the vanilla panacotta was absolutely awesome!So good to see that Okra continues to remain outstanding in service, quality and dining experience - perhaps the growing competition is motivating it to remain consistently at the top of its game!

One of the best fine dining restaurants in Karachi! The restaurant has limited seating and would recommend getting a reservation beforehand.

Having dined at Michelin starred restaurants many times, I know what fine dining is and although the food at Okra is good, it is nothing exceptional. I visited twice - having heard lots about it, and tried various dishes from the A la carte menu (Buffalo mozzarella, Seared Haloumi with pear, spicy crab linguine and Creme brulee) and also the special menu (Crab & Lobster pate on toast, SF Salad, Scottish smoked salmon, Fresh figs with Bresaola, homemade ricotta & balsamic, and Pumpkin pie), all based upon the waiters/managements recommendations as to their most popular dishes.The ingredients were very fresh and the food tasted fine but lacked that wow factor that would make me want to order any dish a second time. The Mozzarella dish in particular was so simple that it felt like something I could easily put together within 2 minutes at home, there was very little to it. There was also a lack of creativity, for example both starters from the A la carte menu had Pomegranate kernels sprinkled over them which brought nothing to the dishes in terms of taste nor texture.Considering the price - which by Pakistani standards is very high, I was expecting a lot more. The highlight was probably the crab linguine, followed by the desserts which were both quite good, but even these were not sufficiently good enough to warrant a return anytime soon. Add to that the carnival like atmosphere on an evening, with excessively loud tables of diners that resembled a British pub on a Saturday night, any allusions of fine dining were soon put to rest as I struggled to even hear myself think. To surmise: good but not great food, difficult to locate from the outside and very much overpriced for what it is.

Okra is a very unique experience. It is very highly rated and has very limited timing and seating, which youll figure out when you try to get a reservation there. Make sure to get a reservation weeks ahead of your plan to visit this place. Food is very high quality and so is the service. The ambiance is nice, a touch of the classic. Really expensive though so unless youve got lots in your account, its a good place for special occasions.

The ambiance and food was great. Wait was very long too long. The drinks (lemon ice tea and mint lemonade) were terrible. Even the starter prawns were a little chewy; seemed like a little too cooked. Overall experience was not at all what Okra is made out to be. Even the seating was too cramped and table too small. For the cost the experience was 3 out of 5.

It wasnt the best of experiences this time round ... primarily because they were out of beef ... more specifically filet mignonTheir recommended prawns in butter and chilli were amazing ... tea was ordinary though we asked for mix tea (their definition is tea bags in water and milk while i was expecting tea cooked with milk)

Much vaunted fine dining restaurant in Karachi, sometimes even referred to as Pakistans only candidate for the famed M Star. I took away the fifth only because they fell short of the high standards one expects of them. Service was impeccable, at least partly because the owner/chef was also sitting at our table. But, no, really, service was very good.The beef carpaccio was good, well sliced, though I would have preferred the plate to have been lightly before the meat was plated. I prefer capers to accompany the meat rather than the ubiquitous roquette/arugula, but my fault for not asking for a substitution. B+For the main dish I ordered pan-fried Perch; someone in the kitchen forgot the difference between pan-fried and sauteed. The result was a thick, dark crust that was difficult to cut through, and the lemon sauce didnt have a chance of percolating through. Only a C+, maximum, Im afraid.Well, we will give them a try in a few months time again, and see how time has treated them.

Okra is one of the finest by far for fine dining. The food is great and the service is prompt and very efficient with the politest staff Ive seen. They have a whole variety of food from western to continental to Pan Asian cuisine. I would give this a five star rating hands down and a double thumbs up. They have some really nice coladas and desert.

Tried the test kitchen of okra and instantly fell in love with it. Kitchen was live and everything was made fresh to perfection. The aroma was quite tempting and the menu was differenr as compared to other place so that was a plus point for me.

Okra, hands down, is my favourite restaurant in Karachi. Cozy, comfortable with excellent food. Been visisting Okra for over 15 years now and its always been a treat. My go to comfort food at Okra; Escargot burgundy style. Job bloody well done
