Its a beautiful airport i have landed there in autumn season and breathing long fresh air, sun rise, and sight seeing view a master moment i have been there

A small airport in the heart of Gilgit city having a lenth of 1.3 km. ATR and mil planes can easily land on this airport, however Airbus / boing can’t land. Airport is located in Kashirot , near to Army Aviation Gilgit. 2 Flights are normally scheduled on daily basis. Due to less flights confirmation of seats a big issue for flight from and to Gilgit.

Best airport with wheelchair and different facilities. Ac is ,full cool lounge on, good staff.

The Other services are Good! But the lodge department is so Useless they damaged my bag

It’s neat and clean domestic airport only operates PIA,s ATRs in mornings.. You surprised to see that no taxi/ rental car drivers app approach you unnecessary , opposite to Other airports in Pakistan. Prior pickup arrangements is recommended.City tour is must in Gilgit including Gilgit Bazar full of Chinese varieties of items, and being Center you can get best and dry fruits. It’s also best place for Pak-China and local cousins. Just to make your mind regarding the hot weather if you are travelling in summer.In less than 2 hrs drive to you can reach HUNZA and Nagar valleys..

Nice but very small domestic airport inside Gilgit city.

A smallish airport that does not have a landing strip for boeing and other larger air crafts and can only manage an ATR that comes daily but again it depends on the cloud cover and weather enroute. Security staff is helpful but language could be an issue. They only speak local languages.

This is a cute, small and fot for purpose airport. You can only fly to Gilgit via PIA from Islamabad. Hardly takes 15 to 20 mins coming in or out of it.

Pretty basic facility. Only one airline company manages flights from Gilgit to Islamabad and back. No other destination, neither domestic nor international.Expect the unexpected, you never know when your flight gets delayed or even cancelled. So, plan accordingly, you may have to opt for the road travel eventually.

Saw this in 1987 during flights for Islamabad. Superb place Gilgit city was. Pristine. Out of the world ambiance. Am keen to see this airport once again.

Gilgit Airport is much needed in this area because of mountains, land sliding its difficult to travel by road specially you have to cross chillas which is the most difficult area to travel by road. Although only PIA specual planes which is called ATR, operates here. But this airport is very clean and a very good facility for tourists who have direct approach to gilgit by air in very short time.

A must have facility for locals and tourists. Very small area. Only PIA flights ply on this route. They are not trust worthy people. Most of the time flights are cancelled with any genuine reason. Daily three flights to Islamabad and back starting from 6 AM to 10 AM. Higher Management of PIA needs to be scrutinised.

It is a beautiful airport suited for smaller planes & only mode of transportation in harsh winters with temperature plummeting to 20 below zero. It is the gateway to the magnificent Gilgit-Baltistan. In summer all of the facilities are open for the indigenous & Tourists.

Gilgit Airport is first of all in Pakistan. Google please fix this.It is a small airport with only ATR flights in the early morning as weather in afternoon is not stable and there are no night operation facilities.The airport itself is tidy and staff is welcoming.

Indian airport

In terms of beauty the place is priceless but in terms of functionality as an airport its an average place. The airport has the very basic setup with small aircrafts. As the place is surrounded with rocky mountains. Its a very beautiful place with peaceful environment and clean air. Meanwhile my trip from Gilgit to Islamabad I have also witnessed the magical mountain of Naga Parapet. Its not that clearly visible but you can see it from a distance via your aircraft. Its the 9th highest mountain in the world all covered with snow.

Gilgit airport runway. A domestic airport. A spectacular and amazing tourist destination in pakistan. TWO DAILY ATR FLIGHT OPERATION BY PAKISTAN INTERNATIONAL AIRLINE.

A beautiful location of the airport. In winter you can find snow on the mountains surrounding the airport. There is always a chance of cancelation of flights. Hence check whether conditions before booking your flight. However once a flight lands then it does fly back. Usually two flights come every day. Interesting both come with a gap of half an hour.

One of the most beautiful places on planet Earth. Small ATRs fly to Gilgit from Islamabad. The flight is worth taking. You can see the famous mountain ranges Karakoram, Hindu kush and Himalaya. The snow covered mountains take your breath away. However, flights often get cancelled due to bad weather. Always have plan B in you want to travel To/from Gilgit.

This Airport is situated in the heart of #Gilgit#City#Sonikot.The government has snatched most of the land for this airport from local people,without giving a penny.However we love Gilgit,Pakistan.

Airport is neat and clean and staff are good. But the main problem is flight. PIA has monopoly in gilgit. The flight is unpredictable. You need to buy the tickets atleast 2 weeks before your travel date. If you miss your flight PIA will put your name on next available date which is atleast one week later. So it totally depends on your luck for making it on to the flight or not.

Gilgit Airport (IATA: GIL, ICAO: OPGT) is a small domestic airport situated 1.25 nm(2.3 km) east of Gilgit, a city in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. The city of Gilgit is one of the two major hubs for all mountaineering expeditions in the northern areas of Pakistan.Because of its short runway located at the edge of a slope, even Boeing 737s and similar-sized jet aircraft cannot operate at Gilgit Airport. Pakistan International Airlinesoperates ATR 42 aircraft on the Gilgit-Islamabad route. Other aircraft that operate at the airport include the military Lockheed C-130 Hercules. In the past, Fokker F-27 Friendship was being used but later it was replaced by ATR 42.A new terminal was constructed in 2014 which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. This terminal included modern check-in facilities as well as different arrival and departure sections.This airport when planned, composed of the land twice as big as it is now. But due to excessive water leakage from the ground, the land was used to create a public park in the vicinity of this airport. The park was named as CAA Park or City Park Gilgit. The leakage was caused due to excessive bombings on this area during War Period.
