The team at Special Event Boutique deserves more than 5 stars. The ladies went ABOVE AND BEYOND any bride’s expectation of what wedding dress shopping/tux shopping should, would, and could be. Not only did they help me find my dream dress, but when our wedding was rescheduled (aka planned from 7am to 6pm that same day) due to covid—they helped me get my dress altered and my husband a tux in like 4 hours!! They stripped a mannequin, hemmed, sewed, and steamed the tux for my husband to wear for our wedding—THAT DAY. They were so gracious, kind, helpful, warm, and understanding. They made me feel like the most beautiful bride and my husband feel like the most handsome groom. We cannot thank them enough for how much they helped make our wedding day dreams come true. We would 10/10 recommend Special Event. You will find the team treats you more like family than a special event client.

I’ve been holding off on writing this review.The beginning of summer I walked into the bridal store, their was an older women & a toddler. The older woman looked me up and down and asked what we needed help with and I obviously told her I need help finding a dress for my big day. She literally said “ we don’t carry your size here” I’m sorry I didn’t even tell her my size or she didn’t bother to measure me for anything. And when I asked if she could measure me she and also charged me $10. This was the first bridal store I went into before going to any other store and it was the worst for me. I’m sorry I’m plus size and got treated like it was a bad thing. Don’t waist your time going here if you are plus size.

Special Event was incredible! The service was friendly and the store was beautiful. I found the perfect dress for a great price! Thanks again, ladies!

I bought a wedding dress through them that was to tight, they said I could let it out at alterations, but took it to 3 different stores and said that they couldnt do it without riping the tool on dress. Jackie is the worst person to go to each time she helped me she was babysitting her grandkids what a way to try to run a business NOT. I also tried getting the mens vest, shirt and ty number so the men that lived further away could order theres wouldnt give them to me, so I bought online. If I could give ZERO stars I would. They also wouldnt take dress back when it was there fault. If you go there ask for denise. I dont like given bad reviews but this place sucked.

Jackie is absolutely wonderful. She is personable, caring, and went above and beyond to help me find and get the dress of my dreams. I would highly recommend meeting with her or Sydney. I had been to numerous boutiques and dress shops around Minnesota and North Dakota, and I ended up going back to Special Event Boutique to find my dream dress. There is such a beautiful and unique selection of gowns, you have to experience them for yourself! Definitely check out designers and the gowns they carry on their website and jot down different styles you want to try. Don’t forget to step out of your comfort zone and have fun! I got my wedding dress here and the staff was wonderful for picking out my dress. They were friendly and let me try on all different styles and I found the dress of my dreams! They also ordered me the correct size so I needed little done in alterations. Everything went wonderfully with my dress.We also got our tuxes from here and for the most part everything went ok. The one mistake was the colors of our bowties got messed up and this was a detail that I confirmed with the staff at least 3 times throughout the process, so that was a bit of a disappointment. They made it right and offered reimbursement on the ties, so that was nice.

The staff was so so so wonderful! All 3 ladies helped me find my dream wedding dress. They even stayed after closing to make sure I was able to find my dress. Very honest and so helpful!

I was having a hard time finding a mother-of-the bride dress until I went to The Special Event. Jackie and her staff were so helpful! I could feel how much they cared about helping me find a dress that I felt good wearing. They went the extra mile to help me find one in just the right color that I could get in time for the big day. I will start off with one good comment, I had a great first impression with them when I bought my wedding dress. Jackie was wonderful, but that’s the ONLY good impression I had. The other staff I dealt with were very rude and extremely unprofessional—right down to actually laughing at a concern I had over the phone and then proceeded to LIE over the phone, and laughed more when they were caught in the lie. I strongly suggest that nobody goes here.Here’s a short list of everything they did wrong:• One of my bridesmaid dresses was ordered 4 sizes too big.• I had a phone call from them telling me there was a problem with the bridesmaid dresses that I picked up, I told them I didn’t pick any bridesmaid dresses up and they just told me they’d call me back. I never heard back from them, panicking that my bridesmaid dresses were missing I called them back later and they said “oh yeah it wasn’t yours.” I mean, how do you not call your customer and notify them of this mistake??• We were notified that the tuxes would be in Tuesday before the wedding, my dad drove an hour on WEDNESDAY to pick them up and they weren’t ready.• Tuxes were picked up Thursday and NONE of them had pocket squares, causing us to have to make a THIRD trip there.• All the groomsmen shoes were the wrong size (even the ones that went into the store to be measured and tried shoes on).• The groomsmen were overcharged for their tuxes and never refunded the difference.• My grooms tie was the wrong color—TWICE and it never got corrected, he was stuck wearing the WRONG color.And after all of the above, they call me three weeks after my wedding to let me know they’re charging me for “missing shoes.” “Missing shoes” that I was never even notified about and on top of that, there was no phone call that anything was missing until it was too late to return them, AND when the tuxes were dropped off the person who did inventory was there and we were told EVERYTHING was accounted for.I don’t even know how a place that does business like this is still open.

Love the store and staff! I needed to find a nice dress to attend to a wedding and Jackie grabbed a few clearance dresses. I walked out paying $30 for a beautiful, one-of-a-kind dress!!

Had just what I was looking for. Staff was helpful and so friendly. Wonderful experience. Definitely recommend.

My fiancé (at the time) and I went to Special Event to pick out the vest and ties that him and the groomsmen were going to wear. We went in to the store to set up our profile and everyone was incredible nice. He went to get sized and they had lost our profile… Not a huge deal, he re-set-up our profile but then 2 days before the wedding when everything was ready to be picked up, they had given him the wrong color tie. It wasn’t a huge deal to me (my husband and I are both VERY laid back). But I know some brides get worked up over the smallest things and the wrong color tie for the groom can be a big deal to some. They were able to order a new tie and have it in by the morning of the wedding. Everything worked out okay in the end but pretty frustrating to have 2 things go wrong.

Jackie and her team ordered the complete wrong color of my groomsmen ties and vest. I called in panic of course and there was “nothing they could do”. They DO NOT stand behind their name which is absolutely frustrating. My groom also had a huge stain in his tux jacket. Why would you not go through everything to make sure it was sent correctly? I specifically talked with Jackie about these issues being she is the owner and she completely played dumb. Worst experience ever!

Made an apt, rep kept walking away, helping others, answering the phones, measuring other customers, didnt keep anything in budget, tried to give good discounts, but nothing was there.i did end up making a deposit to a dress I loved way out of budget, called to cancel it and the lady just told me thats to bad, that was a good discount. Very dissapointed.

I seriously have to question the negative reviews that are put on especially when the positive reviews are so great. I believe Jodi and her employees speak for themselves and rather than believe what has been written, go and experience for yourself what Jodis store is all about. I believe Alexandria is big enough for even 10 bridal stores. Jodi will always stand out head and shoulders above the rest because her goal is not to make money, it is to make you happy. I frankly dont believe the reviews that have been posted and neither should anyone else. Go in and experience for yourself what The Special event store is all about then come back here and post an honest, not fabricated opinion. Jodi, keep doing what you do, being who you are and know that you are loved and cherished by me and mine. My oldest went through your store and my other two girls are getting ready to do the same. We bought a Fabulous prom dress and two mid winter dresses from you and I will be coming along to buy two prom and two mid winter dresses each for the younger girls. As long as you remain open, we will remain loyal to you because you are amazing and so is your staff. Thank you for what you do, the smiles you bring to my face and the joy you brought to my daughter when she wore the clothes you so painstaingly pick out. You are awesome and I cant say it enough. When my girls marry, their bridal parties will order from you and when they have children, boys and girls, they will come through here for their needs, no matter where we will be in the country because there is nothing better than feeling wonderful and genuinely welcomed when you shop for clothes that will define an era and be in our family photos 500 years from now. Thank you Jodi, keep doing you and know the negativity will fall away because it cannot cling to honest, true genuine love.

I went to the Special Event Boutique to look for bridesmaid dresses and worked with Jodi. My experience here was GREAT!! Jodi was so helpful! She was fun to work with and had great ideas for my wedding. We ordered all of our dresses there and our tuxedos. I bought my wedding dress some where else and truly regretted it. The Boutique had my dress for cheaper and could have gotten it faster. Every employee is not only fun to work with but truly professional. I would and have recommended this shop to everyone I know. Thanks again for making my special day so easy!!

My wife and I had or our wedding back in October so this may be a little late but I felt that the team at SEB deserves this 5 star review. Not only were they cordial, accommodating, and patient with my crew of weirdo friends, but they had me, my wife, and the rest of the wedding party looking like models in a magazine. The tuxes all fit excellent, the bridesmaids dressed looked and fit wonderfully, and my wifes wedding gown turned an 11 into a 15. ;) Definitely recommend the team here. Not sure about the other peoples experiences but mine and my wedding partys was flawless.

Really helpes me find a dress that worked with my body type. Also super affordable prices.

1st we were told incorrect information about alteration charges - didnt find that out until alterations had been done... the alterations were HORRIBLE! The dress was 3 inches too short! The seamstress said she could let it down and fix the problem ... she let it down 1 inch...so still to short... plus when my daughter brought it home I had to finish tacking the dress back together in several places... where the seamstress did manage to tack it back she used the wrong shade of thread.... the ladies behind the desk just stand there with this look on their face of please just leave..its done deal! I will never ever ever buy another dress from special event... if this is the best they can do for seamstress they should just give up! $375 for a prom dress that is too short and I had to finish.. what horrible customer service.

If I could give this a 0 star rating I would. I came in today to help my friend try on a prom dress and the sales associate was absolutely horrible. I stepped from the prom side to the wedding side which is not separated by anything. I went over to simply look at a wedding dress on a maniquin and was yelled at by this employee. She did not simply ask me to leave. I have never been so treated so rudely in my life. Very poor dress selection as well...

The woman working there was very rude, she talked to us as if we were below her and told my cousin that she didnt think she could help her find a dress for her April wedding. She also told her that she didnt think she had her things together and she wasnt serious about her wedding. There was no reason for her to treat us like that; this is supposed to be a joyous time for all of us and she ruined it.

All the positive reviews seem to be from the owners friends/employees friends. There is also a five-star review on here from one of their very rude employees (Simone), which is definitely a conflict of interest. Stay away! The staff is rude, paranoid, and unprofessional. Theyre all about money and will try and rush you into a purchase. If you dont purchase right away, their true colors will come out.

Simone is wonderful!! I had been to at least 60 shops in Wisconsin & Minnesota and I looooved Simone! She is hands down the sweetest woman ever!! I was under NO PRESSURE to decide or purchase that day!! In fact I am still working with her on finding the dress of my dreams! I’d highly recommend this shop, if they don’t have it they will find it for you! And prices??? Ohhhh emmmm geeee you guys they are wonderful!!!! I found a dress that I liked at another shop and they beat the price by almost a thousand dollars!!! Due to me pushing off my wedding date I will get to see the beautiful dress I fell in love with and much more!!! I want to say a huge thank you to Simone for everything you have done for me!!! And people I will tell you I am the most straight forward woman ever, which makes it very difficult for people to deal with me!!! I will go here for everything! And it is an hour and a half drive for me!!! Coming from the twin cities area you all don’t know what you are missing till you come here!!!

If I could go lower then a 1 star I would go into the negatives. I would recommend anyone looking at services for bride, groom, prom, or anything related to this go anywhere else. I just spent thousands at this bridal store and my now wifes wedding gown was falling apart before she walked down the aisle. my bride had three woman trying to sew it And then when I tried to talk about it I was delt with in a inappropriate manner that an owner of the store should not deal deal with people. Then to top it off I received a call the first day of my honeymoon from an angry shop owner. Extremely unprofessional and rude and just downright no words for the way my bride my now wife and our whole wedding party was treated.
