My biological father (yes I am next of kin) required medical treatment. We chose to go to the southside small branch ER. I am medically exempted from the mask mandate at this time however I did choose the wear a face shield that cover my entire face not just my nose and mouth. They offered me an paper mask that restricts my breathing and I declined do to my medical issues. After a few moments in the waiting room the security guard told me that I would have to wait in my car because there are no visitors (I guess next of kin is now just a visitor and not a relative) and I am unable to wear a paper mask. I understand there is a medical pandemic in place and I took precautions. Lord help the ones they turn away that are sick and can’t wear a mask.

Hendrick ER staff almost let my daughter die 2 yrs ago. She was in severe pain and the nurses in the ER were mocking her and laughing. They forced her our of the ER and told her if her pain continued to return. Never getting her pain under control. We left and ended up at Waco Baylor Scott and White with a blood clot in her spleen. 5 yrs ago respiratory therapy blew out my sisters ear drums. And while on the Anderson Wing which was their overflow, we could not get nursing staff to attend to her needs. She was a cancer patient and they would stand around in the hallway and be on their cell phones. Worst hospital ever!

Hospital ERs advertise how quickly they get patients into the ER...they brag about how short the wait time to get in is. However, they need to work on the amount of time you wait to get test results and get moved up to a room. On a slow night...not my words but the words of an ER staffer...I waited with my dad for over 4 hours before we could get blood test results and someone to review his chest x-ray...all before we ever got moved to a room. Advertise that wait time because that is more important then how long it take to get admitted to ER.

My wife and I just had our baby boy at Hendricks. The Birthplace at Hendrick could easily win a 10 star vote. The labor/delivery team is the best group of people Ive ever met. One nurse (wont be named due to privacy) stayed 1-2 hours beyond her shift just to help delivery and to just be there. She provided so many encouraging thoughts and words to my wife. When my son was taken for his circumcision, the doctor offered to say a prayer before the surgery. Not sure why people are leaving such bad reviews. I have nothing but high remarks for Hendricks and if we decide to have another child in the future, we will definitely choose here.

My mother was admitted to Hendricks a week ago. She was running a fever and complaining about back pains. She is also diagnosed and battling with cancer. The goal from Hendricks was to do a culture test to see which antibiotics would be useful because they informed her that she had a kidney infection. They tried several antibiotics and nothing was working. My mother had to basically beg for meds for her fever because the nurses there would rarely check her vitals to see if everything was alright and when we did request for medication they made sure to take their time while laughing in the hallway. I never once saw them sanitize their hands. My mother also has a picc line for her chemo that needs to be cleaned daily. They never cleaned that either. We also send for her medical records to send to her oncologist in Houston and we found out she a kidney stone that they never informed us about. We finally made the decision to transfer her to Houston and man was it the best decision we made. MD Anderson took care of her immediately. The ER was even more sophisticated than the HOSPITAL of Hendricks. Of course the equipment is nice and new but even just the staff was a world of difference. They were so sweet, caring, and actually seem to enjoy doing their job. Everyone at Hendricks advised us to not leave and even seemed irritated with us but I was scared for mother’s health and did not feel comfortable at Hendricks in any way.

On november 23rd my daughter fell while playin g and hurt her arm. The first hospital we took her to said it was only a contusion and sent us home. With the amount of pain and swelling she had I knew she didnt just have bruising. So we went for a second opinion in Stanton who confirmed a break. We were told she needed to see an orthopedic. I was given a recommendation from a friend to go to hendrick there in abilene because they would be best and could do surgery if needed. We traveled there that next monday and went to the er. My first impression was not very good as the er lady, nurse whatever she was, was very rude and basically asked me why I even came. Well once we got into a room e everything changed. The dr was nice, I can not remember his name, but he was very thorough. They took more xrays and sent it straight for an orthopedic to look at. A child specialist named drew came in after the xrays were taken to calm allie down, and gave her an iPad to watch her favorite movie which helped so much! She was fantastic!! The orthopedic dr, dr sager, then came down to talk to me letting me know my daughter did need some pins in her elbow. They got us into surgery a few hours later. Dr. Sager did the surgery and I was super impressed by him! I was very surprised to find that they have a pediatric ward that alliebwpuld be staying in which was awesome as well, everyone was so nice to her, shes 4 so she was traumatized by this point. Needless to say I 100% reccomend this hospital! Follow up tomorrow with sager and hard cast for my baby girl. Well worth the travel from big spring to get excellent care!!!

Ive never PERSONALLY had any dealings with this hospital til this time & am VERY DISAPPOINTED! My friend was released the nite before after having MAJOR surgery & got worse & worse as the nite progressed so I brought her in to be checked out. I FINALLY got someones attention @ check-in & asked for a wheelchair & help to assist in getting her in the building yet after waiting & waiting I managed! The 1st step check-in girl was NOT KIND & neither were the 3 others who were step 2 of check-in! We FINALLY got taken back & again INSENSITIVE mainly the females who were SUPPOSE to be WORKING yet i asked where restroom was & simply got glared at & ignored NO HELP with my friend EVEN when she hit call lite in bathroom! Again, i managed to help her! Mind u she was the ONLY patient in the ward. I HOPE they r never in a situation like this & treated the way we were treated! I heard about beer parties, they threw paper balls at each other, talked hair-dos, tv shows, what kind of coffee they liked, flirted with each other, laughed, talked on phone, chatted, lost her file, complained about what the doctor said for them to do &&& didnt do it, googled how to spell COMMON words, had water fights & njoyed ice cream, etc.! PLENTY of staff BUT, they FORGOT the pillow & blanket she was needing! Asked her pain level then didnt administer ANYTHING til wayyy after our arrival. Nurses never spoke when they entered or exited the room so we didnt even know what they were doing about her situation! VERY, VERY BAD! Not sure bout other shifts or staff BUT these particular ones were AWFUL, PATHETIC & DESPERATELY NEED ADDRESSED!!!! 1st doctor EVENTUALLY blew threw THREE TIMES & left without a WORD! 2nd shift doctor never came in the room @ all! Her urine sat untouched over 5 hours! They left TRASH EVERYWHERE/ UNSANITARY! One girl never did get an IV started but continued to try OVER & OVER was told to use a vein finder which never happened on top of talking on her cellphone WHILE trying to place IV! I think EVERYONE on floor EVENTUALLY tried to do an IV & FAILED even in her NECK! Pretty SORRY when a person is sick & hurting!!!SAD, SAD, SAD to say the LEAST!!!! I DO want to add that there was one male RN named SHAWN that came in @ the last & he was AMAZING!!! A WHOLE different breed than EVERYONE else we dealt with in that he was SOOOO KIND! She literally told me she couldnt give me opioids as if I was ASKING for or suggesting them, I just wanted help!!Nurses would not come when I pressed the call button for help, even to move the bar so I could use the bathroom. My wife was admitted to Hendricks following a stroke. It was on a Friday around 3 PM. They had ran some test at the Hendricks South Side ER. When we got to the room at Hendricks we were told that they wanted to a EKG on her and it was ordered. We waited all weekend for that EKG due to the doctor not marking it stat. Which was the determining factor of what the plan was going to be going forward. In the mean time both Bonnie Hayashi, MD, and Antao Du, M.D told us my wife had an occluded (blocked) Left carotid artery and there was nothing that can be done due the fact it was completely blocked On monday she had the EKG twice because the first time they forgot to do part of the test that was ordered. She was released and we were told what to watch out for and she was prescribed asprin aa a blood thinner and Lipitor for cholesterol. 3 Days after release she had another stroke I took her back to ER and she was admitted again. I had already been doing some research and decided to have her transferred to UT SOUTHWESTERN in Dallas. Where she was properly diagnosed with MOYAMOYA DISEASE and did did not nor does she have an occluded carotid artery. She has had the surgery need to fix the problem by doing a craniotomy and doing a bypass on hermiddle cerebral artery. I still cannot figure out how 2 separate Doctors can misdiagnose her like they did. Is it because they just took the word of each other and didnt even study everything they had available. Bottom line if we had listened to them my wife would have continued to have strokes further damaging her brain and even Dealth.

I didnt know that nurses had a doctorate and if my sons doctor said we can leave after he urinated Im not sure why this Filipino nurse who barely speaks proper English and ignores my wife to her face gets to make the decision on whether or not we leave. Im not sure where our nurse Karen went but we only saw her once. She comes in the room (erlinda) and wakes our son up directly after weve put him to sleep to check his temperature even though we told her we checked it and barely put him to sleep. The hospitals mission statement is to provide high-quality Health Service emphasizing excellence and Christian service is a laughable mission statement if the nurses dont care about the patients. I just dont want nurses doing a doctors job. Make sure to whisper when in your room the nurses actively eavesdrop and enter without notice or knocking.

DO NOT have your baby here. Go to Regional. I recently had my baby 6 weeks early and she had to spend time in the NICU. For the first couple weeks she was there it was ok but I made the silly mistake of crying when I visit her sometimes (as Im sure any mom of a preemie would do) and they actually called the police on me, they sent them to my house!! I was completely blind sided. Not to mention the next time I went to visit my baby she had a leg monitor on. They treated me like a criminal. Im serious. I didnt cry histacally. In fact I only cried when the nurses would talk about her potentially having to be there another month. I made no mention of harming myself or anyone else. My daughter was progressing pretty well in the NICU the only thing she has left is the feeding tube. I do not think they offer her the bottle enough most of the time when Im there during feedings I ask the nurses can we try the bottle because, yes like ANY mother I want my baby home and if thats the only thing holding her back then of course Im going to ask about it. Anyway God forbid youre black and your child ends up in NICU but if youre the kind of parent who likes to visit often beware! They will treat you like a criminal. Show no emotion and dont ask too many questions or they will have social services call the police on you. I also want to mention that Ive been a mother for 14 years and never had social services or CPS of any kind in my life. This isnt a situation where there was drugs in the babies system or anything crazy. I have no criminal record (except for a speeding ticket almost 10 years ago). I even fostered a little girl for 4 years. So yeah long story short beware of the day time nurse manager (kala) and the social worker lady who come around and harrass you while youre trying to spend time with your child. They are not really there for you. Be very careful what you say to them because they will make an already difficult time in your life 10x harder. Honestly I dont know if its because I come up there in comfortable workout type clothes all the time and a hoodie so I can do skin to skin with my baby or what but they judge you there so be very careful about EVERYTHING you say and do, and make absolutely no mention of how bad you want your baby home or they will slap a leg monitor on her, call the police on you and treat you like a criminal.

Doctors, nurses, cnas, housekeeping, respitory therapist, dietary, physical therapist, transports all seem to be friendly, compassionate, and seem to thrive for it. BEWARE of social worker/case worker on 5th floor is questionable at best and will retaliate if you disagree with them. Mom had stroke same day within 45 mins stating they had orders to release mom to nursing home,. Noni said that Ill just put this. This lady has no integrity, morals, and is very unprofessional. Worst caseworker I have dealt with thus far. Beware of this person on 5th floor. She doesnt get her way she will throw a fit. Case worker is on the same floor would have been wise, to check any new concerns about patient before calling family and telling them they were releasing your loved one. But to lie and retaliate is very unprofessional. Again watch out for this worker Noni, dont disagree or you will have issues with A.P.S. based on lies. Not a very good experience in this aspect. This case worker is a total joke. Sad would of gave 4 stars but lose one star for the above reasons. Found out mom got a virus while at this hospital, and was cleared up until after she left. I believe insurance had a lot to do with her release without taking care of some issues. I feel the hospital could have done more than report family to A.P.S. with false information. I believe in this area the hospital was not within their own mission statement. I urge others to beware of this. Would like to hear from others with similar experience such as this with A.P.S., C.P.S. and their own social/case worker. Its sad that someone can maliciously and falsely call on A.P.S. on a family member trying to honor their loved ones own wishes, because they think they know better and got their feelings hurt, and their is no accountability for those who do this by their own staff. As wrong as this was, some how the must feel accomplished, and dignified and proud that they can use their services as well as other agencies to do this, while they are suppose to be caring for your loved one. I suggest they revisit their own mission statement. And if they want to view this as just doing business, then I say check your busines model and rebrand yourselves. This is what America has become. A nanny state. And Hendricks seems to be right in line with this way of thinking. Total opposite of their own mission statement.

It was a hard time for me and my family and everyone there made me feel so comfortable.

I like how some people on the reviews are like Staff were unfriendly, DO NOT GO THERE! when in a life threatening emergency, youre not gonna tell the ambulance to not take you there just because theyre not friendly especially if its the closest hospital to you...Anyways, I like it! Hospital is very clean and well maintained! Staff is for the most part 95% friendly and I understand that sometimes people have bad days. They have been taking really good care of my Aunt! Thank you, Hendricks!*UPDATE* Even though the hospital is clean and the staff were mostly friendly, this was by far the most unorganized hospital Ive ever been to... they canceled my aunts surgery 3 times because of their errors and miscommunication. Still, thank you for taking care of my Aunt but get yalls stuff together.

Very pleasant visit at Hendricks Hospital located on Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene TX. if more hospital emergency rooms where as friendly and efficient as this we would probably have less deceased people in the world!!! Kudos to Dr Sharpe and staff b/c they were really GREAT and I do mean GREAT!!!

After being here 5 hours now, we have yet to see a doctor! Beyond ridiculous! THE WORST HOSPITAL I HAVE EVER VISITED. People showing up in the room without introducing themselves, not relaying info from doctor to nurse to us. Professionalism doesnt exist in this place.

Upon arrival at Hendrick Medical Center, was in tremulous pain (10). There was not a long wait prior to seeing a Physician. Immediately following triage was seen by nurse and doctor. Dr. K. Ohlendorf, examine me and ordered labs. Nurse Jewel begin an intravenous therapy, that carried me from a pain scale from 10 to 2. The last pain I experience like that was child birth. Extremely thankful for the care I received at Hendrick Medical Center, praying the billing will be affordable, yet to receive . But after being denied medical care at Dyess AFB, and sent to an urgent care, was informed as told I needed care at this hospital. I Am Grateful !!

I have not had good experiences with Hendricks in the past, but my recent visit for a sleep study was Wonderful . After a quick trip through admissions I was taken to the 7th floor and met by my nurses for the night. They walked me to my room which was large with a queen size bed that was very comfortable. I cannot say enough about how Amazing my nurses were. They were helpful, answered any questions that I had and focused on my comfort for the night....Mike and Brayden were Amazing

Today I went to the emergency room at Hendricks, by far the worst service I have ever gotten. I will never go back to that hospital. there I am because Im in alot of pain, the two nurses that took care of me where so incredibly rude. No one paid attention to the fact that my blood pressure was high then extremely low but once my results came back that I not only had multiple kidney stones but that I had diverticulitis and to what degree was unknown so they said they were going to treat it as if it wasnt super serious put me on two antibiotics and then sent me packing. Worst hospital ever. Do not go there.

Very disappointed in Hendrick Medical Center and the ER staff and Dr Majkowski on the south side. Took our 3 year old son in with a broke femur Saturday night from a slip on the kitchen floor and because they’re not familiar and used to seeing those type of cases they freaked out and questioned us instantly with skepticism and doubt as if we broke our sons leg. “We only see this kinda force related with a car crash” the doctor said with beaming eyes. Idiot. He needs more bedside manners and more training. As well as the nurse that took almost a full 10 minutes trying to put a IV in. Thank you for calling CPS. Looks like it’s a trend from some of the other reviews. You have to appreciate first responders and their jobs but Chris Baldree and I are so disappointed in the entire experience.

I been here for 10 minutes my 71 yr old husband who is suffering with pneumonia and is a cancer patient is having difficulty breathing, seems like that’s not a big deal to them. Instead of taking him back while I register him they have him sitting out here. I have 2 people in front of me trying to register. It is now 1320.

Followed an ambulance with my formed in it. The staff at the ER was rude and acted like everyones issues were petty. One woman doing triage was eating chips while doing triage on people. I asked for a blanket for my friend and was told no unless shes in a room. There was a woman sitting next to us with 2 blankets. Absolutely rude staff!!!

The least I can do is tell everyone who reads this - this medical facility took care of my dad for about 17-21 days before the Good Lord took him in late Nov 2013. For eighteen months my dad had suffered from pancreatic cancer. Hendrick never charged us a dime. I never saw a bill. The ladies that sat with my brother and sister and stepmother and me said flat out you will not see a bill from us. Lots of lives probably begin and end at Hendrick. Thank You Hendrick. Thank you Abilene. Thank you Texas.

Hands down the poorest excuse for a medical facility on planet earth. The ENTIRE ER staff is EXTREMELY rude & unprofessional. (That’s an understatement). The main doctor on staff has the bedside manner of a stoned, juice head frat boy. It was quite shocking.Dr & nurses totally contradict themselves repeatedly taking you on a roller coaster ride. Also, something as simple as asking for an additional pillow was as if you had asked for something rare & unheard of. I got a smartass response of “ummmm I meaaan I can check but pillows are like gold around here”. Then I watched her go & plop her lazy ass down. Never once even looked for one. When I hesitantly asked her again for fear of getting a snarl look or smart ass response, she quickly shut me down with “we don’t have any”. Huge red flag to me that something as simple as a pillow was not an option. That’s the long & short of our experience in this filthy “hospital”.

Got here this morning for my moms surgery and the fire alarms gone off twice without them saying ot was just for drills until i finally went and complained to the recipionist... HELLO, there could be a real fire and everyone would lose their lives because of the constant times the fire alarm goes off and everyone thinking its a damn drill because the hospital does not take this seriously. Been here since 7:15 this morning and its now 11:13 am and theres been 2 false alarms for fire and nobody does anything.

I was traveling through Abilene, and started having severe chest pain. I was brought to Hendrick Medical Center. As I was brought into the ER, I was brought back immediately. I seen Dr. Hilton, and had Tiffany as my nurse in the ER. They were both wonderful! My EKG and my bloodwork both were abnormal, therefore, Dr. Hilton admitted me into the hospital. I was on the 6th floor (C-wing). The doctors, nurses, and aides were all wonderful in treating me. I had Dr. Swarna for my cardiologist, and he is phenomenal!! I must say that I received 1st class medical treatment while at Hendrick Medical Center. I would have to say that I give them a 5-star PLUS rating!!! I am very grateful for such great care that I received from the minute I entered Hendrick, all the way up to the minute that I was discharged. Thank You to all the medical professionals there that provided such great and amazing care for me while I was there. I appreciate it very much.

I was not impressed with this place at all. They were very unorganized and not compassionate whatsoever. It took 5 hours to see someone when the doctor that sent us there called them in advance. Then as we waited on a bed in the hall (that was odd to me), to see a trauma patient come in crying because shes young, skert and in pain, I watch several nurses rolling their eyes, staff make faces. Absolutely uncalled for. I get to hear one talk to her very rudely. A little comfort goes a long way peeps!

Disgusting -from hospital rooms to family gathering areas to bathrooms to elevators to doors to floors to button panels- it is filthy! You are more likely to become ill than be cured in this cesspool. Literally everywhere I look I see garbage or hair or stains from bodily fluids or improperly discarded biohazards, every time Im here, and Im here often and for long stays with my terminally Ill father. Avoid! Drive to another city! This place is dangerous, and I desperately wish I couldve talked my dad into making the trek to Ft. Worth. He will pass away soon, and I will forever wonder if it couldve been different in a sterile enviroment with a staff that adhered to medical standards of cleanliness.

My son was hit by a driver. and while in critical condition they waited six hours to transport by plane to Ft worth Tx because they wanted to transport two other ppl my son was the most critical. By the time he reached Harris Hospital in Ft.Worth he was not stable and doctors wanted to know why Hendricks wait so long he almost had no pulse. My opinion is this if you are seriously ill or your symptoms are life threatening Hendricks Hospital is NOT the place you would want to go they do not care for you. now thats real talk

Absolutely the worst hospital I have ever been to. They completely ignored my wifes issues, didnt perform a proper evaluation, made assumptions without confirmation and generally excelled in malpractice. Now we are waiting to find out if her condition might be Multiple Sclerosis. How does an ER miss something that severe with a simple have a good night. This place should be shut down quick before more people get hurt due to their neglect.

Hospital stay had serious issues. They are understaffed and frequently need to pull nurses from other floors to assist. Their food is bland but some food is delicious. However during my stay they decided to change from you calling in when you wanted to eat to delivering at a specific time...well I dont like to eat at 4pm. I was told well they could put food in refrigerator and heat it when ready to eat....sorry but gross. The staff usually comes in when you have guests and dont ask if ok to do what they need to do. So if you have a catheter they will empty it right in front of your guests. They never once asked if I needed them to come back when guests leave. And finally they will ignore your requests at times. Many times when my aid or nurse came in, I was told the desk never told them I had called with a request.
