Umerkot basically originated from Amar kot but nowadays umerkot.Nowadays it is a picnic place for people it consists of two main doors and one mousem in museum many oldest things available for visitors they can see old ancient things like coin ,talwar, books and other many things.If you come umerkot then you must visit umerkot fort.

I really admired upon my ever first time visit of Umarkot Fort, but this Fort needs extreme attention of Provincial Government Sindh and cultural ministry for its renovation and cleanliness to be more attractive for visitors

This is an archaeological and historical site of Sindh It is in the Kot district of Sindh, the name of the district being used by the king of B, a landmark of which is famous all over the world. Omar Badshah was a ruler belonging to the Somari family who brought an English woman named Marie to his coat which is now called Umar Kot. The city is 22 - 25 north longitude 47 - 69 east longitude. There are various authors books written on this quote and it is not appropriate to quote from those who are on the internet as far as I know it is written here.

This imposing and historical fort is believed to be originally built in the eleventh century and by some estimates in the thirteenth century by Soomra rulers and later, the fortification was expanded by Kalhora rulers in eighteenth century. The fort remained under the control of many dynasties, who ruled the region such as Kalhoro, Talpurs, Rajput , Mughals and later the Britishers. The wide walls of fortification is made of dried bricks and filled with mud plaster. The fort rectangular in shape with large circular bastions at the each corners. Two large bastions at the main gate known as Shahi Darwaza, leads to twisted entrance into the fort are still in well preserved condition and surely gives an impressive look of the fort. Remains of some old structures can be found inside the fort as well a large watch tower in the middle of the fort accessible with stairway and have many cannons mounted on the watch tower, although without proper carriages.

There is an ancient story that relates to King Umer who loves Marvi who is simple girl of thar.King Umer Once travelling in Thar and saw Marvi who is fetching water from Wale. King Umer fall in love with that girl and wants to merry her. But the Marvi who is local girl denies the king request of Marriage Proposal. After that king kidnapped that girl in this Umerkot fort. This fort realtes to this story. In this fort there is also muesem

The fort is not well perserved though there is plate stating the preservation of fort started in 2016 by the help of US consulate Karachi.
