The Jagannath Temple (Urdu: جگن ناتھ مندر) in Sialkot, Pakistan, is dedicated to the Hindu God Jagannath.More than 1000 years old, the temple in the citys Paris Road area was renovated in early 2007 with a special grant of 200,000 rupees from Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.[1] The special grant was given through the minority MPA Joseph Hakim Din due to the efforts of Hakem Ratan Lal Bhagat, Member of the District Peace Committee of and the participation of the Hindu community of Sialkot.
Very nice and old place.Worth visiting.
It was a great experience to visit such ahistorical place. Shawala Teja Singh tampel is a very old Hindu temple in Sialkot. There were many idols before 1947.as per a local old man some idols were taken by Hindus when they were leaving for India and some were taken by pilgrims who were used to come from India and Pakistan before 70s, after that it became a hinted place. This is a Shiva Temple. The temple was closed and destroyed after the division of Subcontinent in 1947. Now the local Hindus have urged the government to ensure the early repairing of the crumbling building of the temple after 72 years.the idols of Lord Shiva installed at the ancient temple had disappeared gradually as they had been vandalised several times, especially post-Babri Masjid demolition.Prime Minister of Pakistan, reopened the temple to the Hindus.Pakistan government has chalked out a plan for the renovation and preservation of the ‘shivala’ with the help of Lahore-based Sir Ganga Ram Heritage Foundation. In 2019,the Pakistan government has renovated and formally handed over the centuries-old Shawala Teja Singh Temple to the Pakistan Hindu Concil for facilitating pilgrim visits and other rituals.
