We purchased a higher end oven, and two other major appliances. This experience was quite positive. However, after just four months, our oven stopped functioning. I understand these things can happen. My issue is that we have now been over two months without a functioning oven and there was not proactive communication or follow upSince original posting. We are now scheduled to resolve the issue w new unit. Thank you

It is with regret that I post this review about Basco’s Portland OR location.Their marketing campaigns led me to believe that high standards would be met throughout the entire sale and follow up process. After all, they sell high end products!Having been in business for more than 35 years myself, it’s difficult for me to write this but in the end it’s important for future or returning customers to know this.In February of this year(2020) I ordered and paid for a new Fisher Paykel double oven. Upon delivery the bottom oven didn’t work and the oven was removed and another was ordered. The replacement oven arrived in May and again the bottom oven didn’t work. The installer called the manufacturer who told him this entire line of double ovens had consistently failed and that I should get my money back. After two attempts and 6 months later , with the assistance of an attorney, we were refunded the full price and the delivery fee Basco had refused to refund.Buyer beware.

Ordered a Miele dishwasher 3/2. Paid and was given a delivery date of 3/13. Husband took the day off from work to wait for the delivery. Decided to call because I didn’t have a delivery time frame. I find out not only is it not being delivered they don’t even have a dishwasher there for us. What if I didn’t call? Why didn’t anyone at Basco know about this. No follow through. Just take the money and forget about it. I guess I’ll be hand washing dishes for a few more weeks...

If I could give zero stars I would, but its not an option. I bought an Electrolux Washer and Dryer on February 1st. They have scheduled delivery for me 3-4 times (I cant remember, Ive lost count) and I still dont have my washer and dryer. They say it is an Electrolux problem - that they are not getting product. They offered me their showroom model, which I accepted but when they delivered it today, it was stacked (I didnt want stacked) and when they unbolted them to un-stack them, they were scratched and had double sided sticky tape all over the top of the washer. Now waiting for a call back for a solution. This has been THE WORST appliance purchase I have ever made - and Im 50, so Ive made a few. I dont care whos fault it is, you cant run a business this way.

We bought a Miele dishwasher that did a terrible job for 6 months or so, until the fourth repair person finally fixed it. Cant hold Basco accountable for the problem, but they also failed to go to bat for us with the manufacturer, even though they said they would and even though they had praised Miele customer service to the skies when we were buying. Then, separately, the interior glass door of one of the Miele ovens we had purchased at the same time inexplicably shattered when a lid from a pan was dropped on it from about 6 inches above it. It took more than 3 months (during which we had no use of the oven) and about $1,500 to repair this, with Basco again offering to go to bat for us but failing to tell us anything about what was going on. Not once in any of this has Basco apologized for its terrible customer service. They are good to work with, but only until you write the check. We would never do business with them again.

I ordered a cook top from Basco approximately 2 months ago. I paid for it and the one that I received was the wrong size even when I gave them the right size which I still have written down. Then I return it and they want to charge me a restock fee so I say just get me the one I need. So then they said it would be in 2 weeks, and still wasn’t in. Then I demanded my money back in full and employee/ part owner was non compliant. Now 2 months later and employee/ part owner is now cussing over the phone that I was in the wrong when ordering and I still have not received it. Now I am being offered a full refund after 2 months because they cannot get it, keep in mind I have got stuff here before and never had a problem but after this I will never be back. I would rate this 0/5 stars if I could.

Working in the customer service industry for over 20 years, I was really hoping that we would be leaving as a satisfied customer, both from the experience of the product as well as the service.Purchasing a non-functioning stove was NOT our intention when we purchased a brand new product from Basco. It started from the rude delivery people, delayed repairs, the inability of them to repair the product due to not having the parts the first time, poor customer service from the technician, the time away from work (8 hours), high costs of take-out foods for over 20 days, a repaired stove with “scratches” (from the parts the technician received in) that I didn’t even get to make, one Basco Manager telling us “he would just order us a replacement stove” while the other one telling us they have to go through the companies policy of trying to get it fixed first, etc. Had I intentionally purchased a floor model with scratches I would have expected a normal 10% discount. In fact, I even tried to purchase the floor model and Dusty (who I can actually say was great) could not sell me the floor model as there could be issues with the stove due to everyone playing with the knobs, etc. I’m sure the floor model would have worked better and purchasing a floor model would have been a risk we would have taken, expecting something to go wrong and we would not been upset had something been wrong, but not a brand new product right out of the box.We would have even accepted that they ordered another stove in and took the defective stove back and they could have dealt with the warranty piece, had it fixed and resold in their warehouse sale just like all other returned products, but this WAS NOT an option. We expected a 20-25% discount; a 13.6% discount (which barely covered my missed wages) is contemptuous; being able to work “outside” the company policy because my stove company won’t be compensating Basco for my inconvenience. Oh but Basco wanted to apologize to me about the inconvenience which is weird because my inconvenience has also been their inconvenience. The only thing their company was out is the manager’s personal inconvenience of having to deal with this and the poor reviews that I will have to give, which apparently doesn’t mean anything for the company, not to mention the two sales that my two co-workers have already picked out for their remodeling.I did my review research prior to purchasing and took the 50/50 chance that the people who commented were just dissatisfied people but of the people who don’t typically write a review this was something I was not willing to accept. However, take note that should you purchase something from Basco and it is not to your satisfaction, Basco does not have a customer service satisfaction policy. Their only policy is the warranty policy of the manufacturer and they only stand behind that.

Ordered a refrigerator. Paid for it. It came TWO MONTHS later. Wanted to go with local company, instead of big box thinking service would be much better. Not so. They ignored our delivery time request & showed up too early (our condo wont allow deliveries for certain times). The installers popped off a grommet that covers a hole for the handle but they didnt tell us. We had to catch them to have them retrieve it from the installers pocket, & he told us we can glue it on (ridiculous-their fault). They didnt level the refrigerator OR put down the feet so it didnt roll every time I pulled out the freezer door. When we called the salesman, he passed it onto the dispatcher (who had already messed up the delivery time and he never called back. So much for buy local.

Dealing with Basco was a very bad experience. I worked with a salesman over a few months on an appliance package for the home I am building. He was very frustrating to deal with, so when I was ready to make my order, I started working with one of the owners. I told him I wanted what was on the Sales Order created by the Basco salesman. He told me that he did not approve of those prices and the price of the refrigerator was $1000 more than what was quoted (on an official sales order). He was unapologetic and also difficult to work with. I really wanted to work with a local company, but they do not honor their own quoted prices. I went to a national retailer and got better pricing and none of the headache.

The customer service is a joke. Bought several appliances over the years (3 pieces this last summer). This was the first time I have had a problem with an appliance and the companies handling of the situation was anything but professional. The new washer we bought had problems from day one. The company & their customer service guy Brad dragged their feet for a couple of months trying to repair the new machine before finally replacing. Put the blame on the manufacture about the lack of speed in replacing the machine or repairing the problem. Even though I bought the machine from Bosco and not the manufacture. The communication with their customer service guy Brad was bad. No return of calls or emails on the first try. I would always have to follow up in a couple of days after not getting a return email/call back. The new washer had leaked and damaged my floor before finally replacing with a new machine. Had to dry out the floor with fans & dehumidifiers. Brad said he would reimburse my rental fees of the equipment but in typical fashion it has been a couple of months with no communication, no returning of emails or calls, and no reimbursement for drying my damaged floor. Their great if you do not have any problems. My sales guy Tim and the delivery guys have always been good but if you have a problem this company is not the kind of company that is going to step right in and take care of the customer. Save yourself the headache and buy from a company that knows something about customer service and is going to actually help you if their is a problem.

I could tell from the layout of the reception area and showroom-and-sales floors that the management of Basco Appliances (1411 Northwest Davis Street, Portland) must be in the hands of a not only wisely efficiency-minded, but thoughtful individuals. They seem to have managed to strike an admirable balance between considerations regarding (1) the importance of facilitating maximal (and therefore most personally satisfying) associate productivity and (2) assuring that visitors feel unmistakably welcome. The associates --- while discreetly away from the front door and the inevitable distractions of indispensable foot traffic --- are exactly where they need to be for immediate access to either their informational computers or the interested public. It goes like this:You stop at the front desk. A cordial receptionist greets you, fields your inquiry, and checks a minute-by-minute log to see who’s available to answer your questions or note your requests --- or to escort you along a tour of what I’d have to describe as an almost ‘breathtaking’ facility. You have a close look at appliances that, in addition to being as handsome as they are sturdy, incorporate technology at which you cannot but marvel.Should you already know what it is you should like to consider purchasing, of course, the associate will take you directly to where you can see what you’ve in mind --- not seizing the moment to garner a sale, but --- and this tells you everything --- even making other suggestions about alternative appliances that might serve you even better and at a price even lower.I liked that. I cant imagine who wouldnt. The associate that welcomed us was ready, by the way --- clipboard in hand --- to record my questions as well as the answers she was soon to provide. (I’d not felt paid such solicitous attention since scraping my knee on an elementary school playground when I was seven (and I was screaming my head off).)This young lady paid even better attention than my first-grade teacher had paid (well, granted, I wasn’t screaming this time (in fact, had I been a tiny kitten of the feline equivalent of nine human years, I’d sure enough have been purring)).But yet, ever the responsible associate-businesswoman, ‘Edie’ was there with her clipboard, recording the stock or serial numbers of the several items I’d decided I might as well look at as long as I at BASCO. (I’d come in to examine examples of a refrigerator-manufacture I’d in mind to explore; but --- while I was there … and the answer was never, ‘Not now,’ but always ‘Of course. Right this way.’Within the next few business hours this exceptionally agreeable young woman would be sending me an internet ‘hot link’ to the websites displaying the items I’d decided to consider and would like to consider at home. And send it she did. It was here the next day.Details of this kind speak volumes about a commendably proactive management --- as well as vitally interested associates who know the importance of the dealer-and-client transparency (not to mention their being very notably well acquainted with the things they’re selling --- seeming to know them in and out (Edie certainly does). The kind of transparency you experience at BASCO (an anagram for ‘Buildlers’ Appliance Supply Company’) is the kind facilitating a genuinely informed decision on your part --- one of the kind you might not have the time to arrive at while still in the showroom.(I’m not implying that there was --- or that I experienced --- anything even resembling ‘pressure.’ There wasn’t, and I didn’t.)Sales experiences of the kind you may expect at BASCO work out to the status of ‘win-win’ arrangements for a couple of reasons: (1) No one, either where you live or at the showroom, is likely to suffer either ‘buyer’s remorse’ or ‘sales force regret’ (2) There is almost certain to be repeat business --- of the kind that everyone in both locales can feel very, very good.I’ll be going again.Randolph L.
