Quetta was always considered a strategic city during the British Raj. The station was built during construction of the strategic line constructed by the Scinde, Punjab & Delhi Railway. Construction began in 1880 and opened to the public in 1887, which by then was part of the North Western State Railway. Quetta was always considered as an important strategic destination as Britain feared that the Russian Empire might advance from Afghanistan into Quetta,

Assalamu Alaikum!Quetta Railway Station is a historical railway station in Pakistan. Its history goes back to British regime. For the reservation of tickets for Lahore and Karachi please visit reservation block and those who are wishing to travel the border city Chaman are required to book ticket from Chaman Passenger Ticket Ghar before 8 AM at morning. No reservations are for Chaman only ticket bookings are done at morning 24/7 before 8:00 AM.For any other kind of Inquiry visit the administration office to inform well about...Fir those who are in Chaman and are wishing to travel to other parts of Pakistan via train are called to visit Chaman railway station administration office. Moreover they would have to travel Quetta first via train and then he/she has to travel from Quetta via Jaffar Express or by Shaheed Akbar Bugti Express to Lahore, Quetta, Karachi , Peshawar and to other parts of Pakistan.I Myself travelled so many times via train and the journey via train is so awesome, good and reliable.Note: No food items are provided in trains by Pakistan railway so keep in mind that while on long journey be prepared with food items however on different railway stations throughout Pakistan these are available easily but before that keep light food items such as chips, biscuits and other food items with yourself for safe journey.May Allah Almighty bless you and reach you safely on your Distination ️ThanksDont forget to like...Ur Brother

Visited Quetta after a long time, 44 years to be exact. The railway station disappointed me. I had good memmories of the place from my last visit in 1975.The entry to the platform was locked as all the four trains that depart from here had left, though they opened the gate and let me in on to the platform. The platform wore a deserted look. I did not see the memorablia from the old station which I had seen in my last visit. Also the plaque with names of railway employees killed in the earthquake of 1935, was missing, when the station was destroyed.Perhaps this stuff has been shifted to a small museum, which was sadly closed due to Sunday. I hope these are well preserved as these are part of the railway history of the subcontinent.

A train station , railway station , railroad station , or depot (see below ) is a railway facility or area where trains regularly stop to load or unloadpassengers or freight .It generally consists of at least one track-sideplatform and a station building (depot) providing such ancillary services as ticket sales and waiting rooms . If a station is on a single-track line, it often has a passing loop to facilitate traffic movements. The smallest stations are most often referred to as stops or, in some parts of the world, as halts (flag stops).Stations may be at ground level, underground, or elevated. Connections may be available to intersecting rail lines or other transport modes such as buses , trams or other rapid transit systems.TerminologyIn British English , traditional usage favoursrailway station or simply station , even thoughtrain station , which is often perceived as an Americanism, is now about as common asrailway station in writing; railroad station is not used, railroad being obsolete there. [1][2][3] In British usage, the word station is commonly understood to mean a railway station unless otherwise qualified. [4] In American English , the most common term in contemporary usage istrain station ; railroad station and railway station are less common, though they have been more common in the past. [5]In addition to its use for storage facilities, in North America the term depot is sometimes used as an alternative name for station , along with the compound forms train depot , railway depot , and railroad depot , but also applicable for goods and other vehicles. [6]HistoryBroad Green station, Liverpool, shown in 1962, opened in 1830, is the oldest station site in the world still in use as a passenger station.Baker Street station, London, opened in 1863, was the worlds first station to be completely underground. Its original part, seen here, is just below the surface and was constructed bycut-and-cover tunnelling.Liverpool Lime Street Stations frontage resembles a château and is the worlds oldest used terminusThe worlds first recorded railway station wasThe Mount on the Oystermouth Railway (later to be known as the Swansea and Mumbles ) inSwansea , Wales, [7] which began passenger service in 1807, although the trains were horsedrawn rather than by locomotives. [8]The two-storey Mount Clare station inBaltimore, Maryland , which survives as a museum, first saw passenger service as the terminus of the horse-drawn Baltimore and Ohio Railroad on 22 May 1830. [9]The oldest terminal station in the world wasCrown Street railway station in Liverpool, built in 1830, on the locomotive hauled Liverpool to Manchester line. As the first train on the Liverpool-Manchester line left Liverpool, the station is slightly older than the Manchester terminal at Liverpool Road. The station was the first to incorporate a train shed. The station was demolished in 1836 as the Liverpool terminal station moved to Lime Street railway station . Crown Street station was converted to a goods station terminal. The first stations had little in the way of buildings or amenities. The first stations in the modern sense were on the Liverpool and Manchester Railway , opened in 1830. [10] Manchesters Liverpool Road Station , the second oldest terminal station in the world, is preserved as part of the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester . It resembles a row of Georgian houses.Early stations were sometimes built with both passenger and goods facilities, though some railway lines were goods-only or passenger-only, and if a line was dual-purpose there would often be a goods depot apart from the passenger station. [11]Dual-purpose stations can sometimes still be found today, though in many cases goods facilities are restricted to major stations. In rural and remote communities across Canada
