Peshawar-Karachi Motorway is in short known as PKM project. It starts from Karachi, the largest city of Pakistan in the south, then passes through Lahore, the second largest city and ends at Peshawar in the north, an important town adjacent to Afghanistan. The PKM project (Sukkur-Multan section) is undertaken by China State Construction and Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), the largest construction company in the world. The Sukkur-Multan section is 392km long and 31.25m wide. It is a 6-lane access controlled Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) motorway with a total cost of 294.3 billion Pakistani Rupees. It is funded by China’s EXIM Bank. It is the largest under construction EPC infrastructure project of CSCEC in the world, as well as the largest project under construction of CPEC.
