College of Statistical and Actuarial SciencesIntroductionThe subject of statistics was introduced in the University of the Punjab at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels in 1941. In 1950 the Department of Statistics was established by late Dr. M. Zia ud Din. In the same year in addition to postgraduate diploma course, a two-year Masters Degree Program in Statistics was started. In 1952, the Department was upgraded to the status of the Institute. Since its inception, the Institute has been engaged in individual and collective research in the field of theoretical and applied statistics. In 2007, the Institute of Statistics was upgraded to the College of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences.Presently, the College is offering academic programs in the following areas:1. Statistics2. Operations Research3. Actuarial Science4. Biostatistics5. Wonderful education and training place

There is a number of courses offered in this department . BS statistics , MS stats ,Phd in Stats and combination of applied ststistics i.e Master of Information and Operational Management , Master in Business Statistics and Management , Master in Bio statistics and Acturial sciences. The building and facilities are wonderfull. Morning and evening classes are available here . Credit for development of this department from ordinary to extra ordinary goes to Dean Dr. Shahid Kamal.

Gooden era of life when its used to call Institute of statistics, way back in 2002. The everlasting relations , extra ciricular activities, hostel life, campus ki nehar, eating at fruit shop and cafeteria. Late night aawaragardi, combine studies and long walks of corridor...great teachers.

Its been ten year and it still seems yesterday I had passed out of department of statistics. In operations research. Best time of my education Years. Dr. Saeed ,Awais Saab and Sohail Chand a few of the best teachers here.
