During the year ending June’18 LRBT treated 3.0 million patients in OPD and performed over 273,000 major & minor surgeries.________________________________________LRBT is the largest provider of Eye care in the country treating 36 % of all eye patients visiting OPD of hospitals, performing 27 % of all eye surgeries & 32 % of all Paediatric cataract surgeries________________________________________LRBT apart from General Ophthalmology (which includes Cataract) runs several special programs including Pediatric, Female blindness, School Screening, Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy.________________________________________LRBT runs the largest programme for postgraduate ophthalmological training in the country with 49 doctors currently in its Fellowship/Membership programmes at Korangi and Lahore Tertiary hospitals.________________________________________In addition it trains approximately 40 students every year in certificate programmes for Ophthalmic Technicians, Refractionists and Operating Theatre Technicians in its School of Ophthalmic Paramedicine at Korangi hospitalLRBT was established in 1984 by 2 retiring businessmen Graham Layton & Zaka Rahmatulla.________________________________________LRBT began its free services in Tando Bago in District Badin in 1984 as a small mobile unit.________________________________________In its first year of operation 11,699 patients visited its Out Patients Department (OPD) and 546 major and minor eye surgeries were performed.________________________________________LRBT has now grown to a network of 19 eye hospitals & 58 clinics.________________________________________The network of hospitals and CEHCs is spread over 4 provinces of the country in a manner that no Pakistani is more than 3 hour bus ride away from an LRBT facility.________________________________________During our 33 years of existence over 41 million patients have been treated and over 4.0 million major and minor surgeries have been performed
