The WAPDA House is a nine-story office building located in Lahore, Pakistan, that serves as the headquarters of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA). It is one of several prominent government buildings located at Charing Cross on Lahores Mall Road. The building shares views of the Punjab Provincial Assembly, Islamic Summit Minar, Masonic Lodge, and other key landmarks.It was designed by the American architect Edward Durell Stone, and completed in 1967.

Wapda Building, situated on The Mall, right next to Punjab Assembly, Avari Hotel, Alfalah Building, Lahore Zoo, Freemason Lodge and Shahdin Manzil, is one of the most iconic buildings of Lahore. Its an office building, with nine storeys, and caters to a number of offices, including some banks. Nighttime lighting on important national events make it look very beautiful. But as most of protests take place right here, at Charing Cross, getting to and from this building can become quite problematic.

Wapda House is headquarters of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) established in the regime of Ayub khan. Authority has two wings Water wing and Power wing. Water wing is responsible for construction of dams and other water reservoirs in the country and to stop wastage of water and preserve it for its use as drinking water and for irrigation as pakistan is mainly an agricultural land.The other wing is Power wing. This wing is responsible to produce electricity from water and its distribution. But later on this with the gap of time by our stupid rulers under their vested interests made ineffective by engaging rentals and IPPs and oil and coal fired companies etc to grab money and kick backs and establish their own empires in the various countries of the world. Distribution companies were established by dividing the distribution system with the name of lesco fesci pesco etc and a main company pepco established to sale electricity to these distribution companies and by destroying the wapda strength distribution system has been become unable to provide uninterrupted power as per demand.Similarly construction of dams and construction of main reservoirs of water put before the dogs and neglected to make the country barren and to satisfy the interests of hidden elements.Wapda house is a beautiful building standindg in the Faisal Chowk Charing Cross in the lap of provincial assembly of the Punjab and in the shadow of a Minaret constructed to show Muslim union and strength by ZA Bhutto after successful Islamic Conference in Lahore. It was the ever first big gathering of leaders of Muslim world that has not happened again so far after 1974 witnessed by Lahore and the whole world. CM secretariat Avari hotel and Lahore zoo are also in the vicinity of this grand building.I would like to suggest that wapda may be revived and its original functions taken away be given to it for the sake of prosperity of Pakistan.

I like the building but not went inside

Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority is Federally administered organization established under ministry of water and power. Its main objective include undertaking of hydro power projects which includes but not limited to Mangal, Ghazi Brotha, Terbela, Gomal, Diamer Basha, Chitral, Neelum Jehlum etc. The aggregate capacity of all projects (completed) is around 7GW. The main customer of WAPDA is Central Power Purchasing Authority (CPPA).

The most beautiful building of Lahore made with white marble is WAPDA HOUSE. Elegant location and landmark site with big dome is Pakistans Water & Power Development Authoritys head office. It housed banks andAir travel agencies. When it was being built it was called white elephant by few but every one loved it.

24 hours passed, my meter is disfunctioned and after certain attempts of complaining the only thing I got is a complaint number.Every time I complain they said we have forward your complaint with high preference and the result is that 24 hours left no sign of light.
