Headquarter of Pakistan Railways. Sir Henry Edward Frere was appointed Commissioner of Sindh after its annexation with Bombay in 1847. It was he who discovered the potential o Karachi as a seaport and conceived the idea of a railway line to up country and recommended Karachi to be a seaport in 1855. The survey for construction of a railway line from Karachi was started in 1858. The 13th of May, 1861 was a Historical day when the first railway line was opened for public traffic between Karachi City and Kotri. At the time of independence (14th August, 1947) the North West Railway was bifurcated with 1,847 route miles lying in India and 5,048 route miles in Pakistan.

This takes to history. An office made before partition i.e. year 1947. Major departments like Accounts, Audit, Pension, Information Technology are situated in this premises. Also an up-to-date advance reservation center is located in the premises. Building needs a complete renovation since it is quite an old one, window panes are broken and need replacement. An old locomotive is also displayed at the front of Headquarters to portray the historical presence of Pakistan Railways in this hemisphere.

Its a railways headquarter. People mostly visit here for advance booking, reservation of tickets for their upcoming journey plan. It has nice environment and services are very good in here. Air condiotined hall, nice sitting area, good cooperative staff etc. But still needs some improvements like 1: it should have ATM machine for cash withdrawals.2: It must have filterd water cooler. 4: Parking system is too old, it should be updated. 5: Here must be one counter for just information to passenger for journey because mostly people have to wait in queue just to get information.

Lahore railway headquarter has a ticketing booking office too. The chilled atmosphere did not let the person in long line feel any severity of weather around. Most particularly in scorching summer, its a blessing. A number of counters serve customers and there is availability of private counters too.

A historic building with a great architecture.no doubt a memory of colonial period and still stand with all its memoric past.Despite being so old it still serves and all important offices of Pakistan Railway are located inside this building.a chair for minister is also present there.there are many rooms offices and meeting rooms alongwith conference rooms.All important officials of the department have seat here.

Its the main office where senior management of Pakistan Railway sits and control it. Its offices are old, renovated from time to time but not as per standard of an organizations main office. This office and its working related to railway and its workforce, the only thing here related to general public is reservation office for booking railway ticket which is main office for booking.

Pakistan Railways is still good travel option. However dont travel in economy class.

In my opinion the railway HQ of Lahores location is at very good place. As it is somehow the centre of the city and it is easy and affordable through any kind of transportation.. The only traditional place to book an advanced ticket of Pak Railways of your choice.... I totally like this place.

Infrastructure is good, but in train bogi if there is capacity of 50 people, administration issues 100 tickets, especially in economy class, so journey is not comfortable.Employees are not professional, they do not facilitate customers.

There was so much rush on the counters and two were operative while others were close . No separate counter for ladies. Although there was one written as ladies counter. Very slow service.
