This place has the warmth of a small, independent corner book store but has a deceptively (in the best way possible) large collection of books. Staff in the bookstore is very obliging and knowledgable. The website is surprisingly very streamlined sans the usual technical issues in websites here. Being the only bookshop of its scale in town there isnt much to compare it with. They often have a sale running on used books while new titles are displayed on the glass windows and standees. I cannot mostly find the books that I am after but the place offers a niche for the book lovers. Nicely lit and air-conditioned, there is a coffee shop there as well which gives this place an air of a library. Quite confusing but thats what it is.

Readings is one of the best books stores in Lahore with an attached small tea/coffee shop. Most of their books are imported and in English; however they also do have a section of local writers and Urdu books beside popular international and national periodicals. One can also find few old books there on low price. Their children section is the most popular section. One can find the children books and the activities stuff for the children of all ages. For me the most fascinating thing about them is their readers friendly environment and their flour cushions. Occasionally I have also seen the renowned writers in the shop.

The day I visited this place, it was quite messy. There was no one to attend us while one of the attendant was racking books. They have labeled the racks but it is difficult for the first-timer to easily find the required section. We searched for the kids activity books, and it wasnt easy to look for it. The new and old books were mixed so couldnt find the one I was looking for. They have a good car parking capacity and management too.

Readings is a very good book shop in town. It not only provides you a large collection of book from the globe, but also provides you an environment where one can read. They ve placed cushions in every line against book racks, so one can sit on them and read books easily. Remember this facility is free until you buy something. They dont charge for reading. Recently they re offering 50, 70 & 90% off on certain collection of books for every age. I bought couple of original Marvel books (for my kids) on very reasonable discount. In my point of view, their Urdu sections needs to be improved. There is not much when it comes to Urdu section and it literally has very few books for kids in Urdu section. I mean there is almost 0 collection in Urdu for kids when it compared to the English collection available for kids. Still Readings is one of its kind book store available in town and I really appericiate what they re doing to keep the people stay connected with books in this age of technology when everyone is really shifting towards e-reading. I am used to of going there along my kids and my son really loves the comic section of the store.
