Impatient consulate officials I have ever talked to. Basically there is no good way to reach them and get solutions to your problems or seek advice, they enjoy making things more complicated disregarding the needs of Indian citizens. I dont understand their function if they cant even convey simple instructions properly to the masses especially during this critical times. The only way for me to communicate with another country is a consulate and here the consulate is just incompetent and trying to avoid dealing with people so they have less work. This is not how real Germans function. PS: this is just the phone call and email experience with the embassy cant imagine going into that place.

I dont know why this consulate has a low rating. I recently visited this place for my student visa and the staff here were nothing but friendly and helpful. I had the made a mistake with my dd but they guided me very well to correct the dd. If you have all the correct documents according to the checklist the whole process will be very smooth. I got my visa within 3 weeks of my interview appointment.

The nearest prison Alipore jail is better than this place.

Very very bad experience.And now they are not helping people in this COVID-19 like My wife had got Dependent visa but it’s expired and she could not travel to Germany. So now how to reissue this visa or what steps to take next it’s not transparent :(

I visited the consulate on 24 Jan 2020. Typical German efficiency and order. Had booked my appointment on line and the name was with the security Staff at the entry gate.My papers were in exact order as required in the check list.Got the VISA in 24 hours! It cant get faster than that.My advise, do your home work by collecting all documents as per the consulate on line check list. In correct format and order; dont get confused by YouTube chatter. The consulate web site is comprehensive enough!Apply in time, answer truthful and your application will be considered objectively.

I have never thought to get this type of unprofessional behavior from their staff they are so bossy in nature and extremely rude in their behavior. I went there for family reunion visa but they behave so unprofessional and took 7 months and gave me visa at the time one day before lock down so my visa expired and i wasnt able to reach Germany to stay with my husband. Now also when i am calling them on telephone, they are extremely rude to deliver some basic information and hanging up the phone on my face.

This is the consulate of Federal Republic of Germany. German visa applications is processed here. Staffs are friendly. But you must reach on-time for appointments

German consulate Kolkata staff (the Indian staff in particular) are the worlds most uncivilised and rude people. I would hold the Consulate General responsible for not paying attention that his staff are not fit to be living in civilised society. First of all they are keeping my wifes visa pending since 7 months with no reason and issued it when lockdowns were being initiated worldwide for covid-19. Of course the visa expired while my wife could not travel. I contacted them for reissue. Due to some misguiding information on the website I wasnt clear if they were open or closed and when I called to clarify, the lady used foul words for calling and hanged up the phone. Maybe they are jealous of people getting opportunity to excel in their careers while they can only play God inside one building.

Being nice does not come naturally to the staff here.

A place for verifying your visa. The outer Scenario is full of graphiti and the security is eye catching. The entrance gate is so high tech. So clean from inside and outside . Trees infront of this place ..two three benches for waiting outside, its situated in a crowdy place . Food stores , dominos are Available near it.

Pathetic behaviour of stuffs. If u don’t under anything they are not hesitate to shouting on you so badly. Even they are not ready to hear anything. Very much disappointed.

Nice staffs, very helpful. Make sure to keep the documents in order as mentioned on the website. Also fill the application forms twice.

I am telling you,the fat lady there will not let you succeed even if you have all genuine documents and all credentials,she will find a loop to not accept your application as she found for the first day the space between stat te Bank ........... and second day she had a confusion with my work experience documents because she is not aware of that,so in her eyes its fake.Better apply from other places and may she suffer mentally as I did.

Please change the lady security guard at the entrance. She yells and abuses if you ask anything more than once. The people inside are decent and good. Please change the lady security guard. She considers herself to be a CBI officer or a RAW agent.

My experience at the consulate was very bad. People are very uncooperative and disrespectful. Its better to apply for Visa at other centers.

I have recently received my students visa, the process was extremely smooth and systematic, please note arrange documents in right order and get a very clear DD avoid state bank DD. Everything is just fine.

Always take two set of your documents copies even your application form. Do your demand draft in private banks or if you have time do this in vijaya bank branch nearest to Kolkata German consulate. Note: never go for sbi or any other public bank.

Extremely unsatisfied with the service. I have been accompanying my friend and he has been rejected 2 times. First, he needed ZAV which in other German embassies in India is not even required. Second, he was returned for his demand draft. When we checked the website the last update was from 1 month ago and they said they changed the amount to be paid for visa last week. How is it possible to return people when you do not even update your websites!? Also, the staff attitude is super unfriendly and not polite.

Please report 15 min before the appointment time. The security persons are very strict and sometimes very rude. They will not allow you to enter even after one minute delay in reporting time of scheduled appointment time. Please carry print out of the appointment letter.Regarding Demand draft for Visa processing, please make sure that the DD is flawless. In your DD, in issued in favored of section, it should be clearly written, CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY, KOLKATA. Please cross check all the spelling and unwanted gaps in the words. Also, the whole string CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY, KOLKATA should be there, otherwise they will simply reject the draft. There is no provision of payment by card or by cash. I have faced this problem as I have created draft in SBI, Union Bank of India, CBI. One good thing is that they are accepting DD from Axis Bank but be very careful with the alignment of the draft word. All the things in the draft should be very clearly visible with no overlap.

It seemed like the security staffs were getting paid for being rude. I went there twice so far for the same National visa.At first, I was denied entry for being late by 5 minutes when I reached at 10.35am for an interview for the period 10.30-10.45. Let me add here, in the appointment selection window, if you booked appointment for a period of, say 10.30-10.45 (as was in my case), you would be denied entry if you reach at 10.31 (as told by the security), and you have to present not less than 15min before the scheduled time. Without any reason, the security staff also pushed me with significant physical contact!!In the second day, my appointment was at 9.00 and I reached at 8.40. On pressing the bell at 8.50, I was attended by an unexpectedly rude behavior.Inside, the lady was polite, professional and helpful. However I was rejected this time because in the draft, Federal was misspelled as Fede ral.

Staff was very polite. Asked a few questions and verified every answer I gave. Was done in 5 mins. Tip: Carry all the documents requested.

Every citizen has the right to information and respect, no organisation and its employee has any right to violate this.

I wish i could give negative stars. Staffs of German consulate are worst. They are disobedient, disrespecting and very impolite. All they need is money for doing anything. Throw money on their faces and they will serve you like servants or else they will reject everything with lame excuses. It is German consulate just by name, in reality it is fully controlled by some idiot bengalis. Hate to see their faces again.

I had a very nice and smooth experience of visiting this place. It was my first time for visa application and officials there made it a cake walk for me. The lady who checked my documents was very nice and patient. She answered all my queries and the whole session was completed within 15 minutes. My call time was 11 am i.e. 15 minutes before actual appointment time. I went inside at 10:55 am and came out before 11:15 am. So, for those who get panic attacks by reading the bad experiences of others. Please dont worry much, just make sure that you carry all the documents mentioned in the checklist on website and everything will be fine.

German Consulate in Kolkata is worst with its unprofessional staffs who dont even have the curtsy to even speak politely to applicant for Job Seeker Visa. It seems candidates make a big mistake by applying to Germany Job Seeker Visa from Kolkata & the consulate is always ready not to accept but to reject the most eligible candidates too. My elder brother applied with all correct documents & even he answered all weird questions smoothly but still he was rejected without any valid reason. We are truly pissed with Kolkata German Consulate. Worst service & very very demotivating from every aspect.

It was the worst experience ever i faced in my life. The German consulate staff was worst staff. They are highly rude in behaviour. Even the security outside dont know how to behave, how to talk with high professionals. Few days back i went there for my visa interview, my application was rejected just for my genuine document i submitted. I couldnt not even understand what happened. I was blocked. They even dont proper anzwer for the rejection. I was shocked. I came Outside and there security staff has the worst behaviour i never come across in my life. They treat you like a begger even if you are multi millionare.

Worst place ever, first they keep the marriage certificate, after visa approval kept the passport and didnt return on same day, visa stamping is a 2 mins job and they need more than a day for that? Not everyone lives in Kolkata, people have to take flights just to collect the passport.

Mainly the Fat lady (Dont know her name). OMG they are so so so RUDE. Aare we are human being not any stray animal, its actually humiliating. Defiantly they will send you back. They never accept your application in one shot. I carried my 1 year baby with me, travelled 500km away from Kolkata. Still they asked me to submit some more document and cash amount in another visit. I request them that its really difficult, I can mail you every thing and can e-pay you the amount but as expected RUDE enough to say me no. And the most horrible part the Security also the same kind of behaviour. He told me just gate out as I was carrying my bag inside unknowingly. When ever I called them over phone to know my visa status, cant tell friends, how I felt, they not giving any relevant answer to my question, RUDE and dropping phone over your face, ufffffffffffffffWormst experience ever I my entire life.IF THERE IS SOMETHING BELOW 1 STAR I WOULD LOVE TO GIVE THAT.

The place is nice and beautiful. The staff can be rude sometimes to the people. One advice to people coming for visa interview here, make sure to carry all your documents ( i mean every single one ) and copies of it, and make sure to check the name on the demand draft, many people are sent back because of these mistakes. Such mistakes are one reason behind the staff being unfriendly, try to avoid them.

Its definitely the worst place to visit by someone who is in need of a visa.The staff is very rude and impolite and dont have respect and dedication to thier work.All are just swollen potatoes good for nothing .Specially the german consulate of kolkata who is a very rude person doesnt know how to talk to people and yells everytime on anyone.truly disappointed by this behaviour of theirs

A horrible experience. The staff is extremely rude and is looking to find reasons for not doing their work. As soon as my turn came the lady was just trying to find ways to not accept my application. All 5 people in front of me were rejected for some pretext. VFS is ruining careers of people instead of helping them.

Bad experience. I had to take appointments for 3 consecutive days. I am not a native from kolkata. I had to stay for more days paying for unnecessary expenses. They immediately look into the application how to reject and return it back. Especially for demand draft they looked into typo errors and sent me back. Draft was 100rs more and they sent me to redo the draft with exact amounts. I dont understand converting the fee in eur to INR doesnt lead to the exact amount they state in the website. So how does it make difference if its 100 rs more. Some Indian staff are rude and some are helpful and good. I recommend to make demand draft in Vijaya Bank very next to the embassy. They take draft amounts in cash and they type the beneficiary name exactly. Other banks keep asking for cheque to make drafts and also definitely make typo mistakes. My application was post doc position.

Worst place. I was just 5 minute late for appointment because I came from 800km away by train just for appointment (train was delayed by 1.5 hours) and they told me to come again. It was thursday. Embassy is closed on friday, saturday, sunday. So they basically expected me to stay in a foreign city for 4 days.Worse part is they didnt even courtesy to at least talk and listen to me once. They just ordered their security guards and didnt listened to me even once.

Took them 9 months to process my application and then reject it! Following application was for Business Visa which again got rejected with no reason stated. Never faced such competency issues with Mumbai Consulate General. Stupid, arrogant people at Kolkata

Worst experience ever. Never felt so much more humiliated by the staff for just requesting something. Not at all professionals. I would rather live in some place else for 6 months so that I dont have to be under their jurisdiction to get the visa.
