An amazing adventure retreat. With serene views and healthy atmosphere, this spot is just approximately 150 kms away from Islamabad. Prices of rides are very reasonable as they are regulated by local govt. The staff is also very welcoming and friendly. Ill rate it 4 out 5 must visit sites. Enjoy!

The government should take initiative to regulate boating and other water sport charges if they want people to come here and enjoy, instead of bargaining.Place was usually not very clean either. Tourism industry flourishes where people are courteous, friendly and welcoming.Would not recommend this as a full day picnic spot.

Great spot for a day trip from Islamabad/Rawalpindi. Many recreational activities like Boating, parasailing, horse and camel riding along with a beautiful view. Fried fish available at the spot was exceptionally tasty. Recommended place for a family visit. One May have a visit to taxila museum and archaeological remains in the way.

Very good point to visit different types of water rides are available including Parasailing. Also, a 300 years old mosque is situated at the bank of the lake.

Best for Swiming and Hangout. ONLY EAT FISH NO TO CHAPAL KABAB.

Khanpur dam one of the most beautiful dam is constructed over River Haro which originates from Abottabad.It is situated near the town of Khanpur in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province around 48 km (25 miles) from the federal capital Islamabad, on Taxila Haripur Road.Every year a spring carnival is arranged at the Khanpur dam. This Khanpur Dam Festival attracts many tourists from Pakistan and from around the world and it has many colorful and attractive events to show off.For a day trip/picnic, it is an ideal place where you can enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, adventure, water sports, Skiing, angling, Spelunking, Night caving, Rock Climbing, Team Rappelling, Rap Jumping and watching migratory birds during winter.

Khanpur dam lake is a beautiful green blue water lake. Lake itself is beautiful and there are a number of sports and recreational activities also available. These include jet ski, motor boat and para gliding. Boating is very enjoyable on the lake.The lake is surrounded by hills and the view is very beautiful. The area is quite peaceful despite a lot of visitors on weekend.Cleanliness is an issue as on all public and tourist spots in Pakistan. People frequently litter and nobody picks up all the junk. Mostly at the banks of lake it is not a very clean site but if you reach relatively less crowded area of lake than you can find a clean spot.There are as such no public amenities. Only one or two small restaurants with tuck shops.If you take your food from home then it is a good picnic spot.The road to khanpur dam lake is single and relatively narrow but it is mostly in good condition.Overall its a good place to visit and pass few hours.

It lakes the facilities like quality hoteling and also its not ideal clean but does have some scenary and sights to be pleased with.

Dam is one of the Beautiful lake of Pakistan, good for every type of Activity like boating, water diving, Parachute jumping, back side of dam is Damn good, best for Bbq and cooking, there are so many good restaurant here which offer every type of food, and also you can stay there, Lake view Hotel, Gandhara hotel and Mabali is one of them, if you want to beat the heat, there are also Cold Water Points, if you want to go, go spill way or Bhamala, Bhamala is Ruins of 5000 old city.

Lake itself is good, however lots of attention by local administration is required to develop it as a good tourist resort. Food quality is pathetic in all respect eith it is taste, hygiene, pricing or service. No check on fair of boats and water scooters. There is no arrangement of safety/security of visitors what so ever. Not fit for family excursion.
