Sindh Madrasa was founded on 1 September 1885 by Hassan Ali Effendi, a Sindhi who settled in Karachi. The originally kafila serai grounds of pre-colonial Karachi that were located to the east of Mithadar eventually incorporated into the school grounds[5]Its establishment was supported by Indian Muslim jurists including Syed Ahmad Khan and Syed Ameer Ali.[1] It became a popular school for many Muslims of Sindh and Balochistan. Modeled after a British public school, Sindh Madrasa remained a high school until 1943 when it was elevated to a college, and in February 2012 was chartered as a university by the Government of Sindh.[2][6]Today, Sindh Madrasa is a publicly funded university located in the Serai Quarter of downtown Karachi, near Habib Bank Plaza building and I. I. Chundrigar Road on an eight-acre estate which is home to several colonial era buildings most of them designed by architect James Strachan. Sindh Madressatul Islam offers four year undergraduate programs and two year masters degrees, however doesnt award doctorates. As of 2013, this university has 16 faculty members with PhD degrees teaching there. The university is constructing a 15-floor academic tower in its current campus.[6] The institute has been associated with several prominent South Asian Muslims including Pakistans founding father and first head of state Mohammad Ali Jinnah who received his matriculation from the school in 1892, apart from Jinnah, Muhammad Hashim Gazdar (9th Mayor of Karachi), Shah Nawaz Bhutto, Abdullah Haroon, Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah and Muhammad Ayub Khuhro also studied here

Very old school associated with the biggest name of Pakistan... But it seems the quality is getting worse day by day because the administration is not taking care of the institution

The very old and historical college building and now great university since 2012,Our great leader QUAID-E-AZAM MUHAMMAD ALI JINNAH studied here also this is the very first institute of SINDH.This university is providing standard education in all means and providing bachelors and masters degree In my subjects, and also going to introduce PHD very soon.This university also have in house fm radio channel station, air-conditioned library and classes, computer labs and much more.

Sindh Madressa School is the oldest school in Karachi. Sir Hasan Ali Afandi estalished this school for muslims. Quaid-e-Azam also took his primary education from this school. I also took my secondry education from this school during 1991-1995. This is the best school in Karachi. Now it is University and and you can avail higher education from this university on just very nominal university fees.

A University that has a great historic importance is now in the hands of a people full of jerk heads who doesnt need any introduction. Being a Public Sector University, the revised fee structure is too high, Private Universities are also offering Graduate subjects more or less same fee, last year in 2016 -17 the fee for MS was 6000 per course now it is 7500 per course, which is i think too high, we would request them to reduce the fee to its previous structure,
