I got to wondering about the idea because of the recently released results of a Gallup survey called “Soul of the Community,” which shows that people feel attached to places primarily because of qualities like beauty and social openness, rather than more hard-edged economic factors.

Civial Hospital is a great hospital of the city. It offers free of cost everything to the patients all over the Pakistan including free medicines. But why I am giving 1 star to this is, because of their doctors which dont treats patients like patients. They think they are the owners of the hospital, and behaves like Kings and treat the patients like Dogs.I know, all the persons who have visited the Civial Hospital Karachi, will agree with me ;-)

Source wikipediaDr. Ruth K.M. Pfau Hospital was founded as The Civil Hospital Karachi in 1888 in the wake of a third pandemic of Bubonic Plague on the one hand, and the platinum jubilee of Queen Victoria on the other. The pandemic would kill at least an estimated 10 million people in India alone over a period of 20 years. It is important to mention the status of Karachi at that time. Karachi was not the business center. Towards the close of the nineteenth century, Karachi emerged as the cleanest city towards this side of the Suez Canal, with an estimated population of 105,000 which continued to grow in view of its strategic importance.Lord Curzon the Viceroy of India visited the hospital in 1900 and unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the platinum jubilee of Queen Victoria. The plaque is placed in the same spot, which was initially a nursing school and subsequently transformed into a state-of-the-art Burns Center in what is known till today as the Victoria Block or the Jubilee Block, while the entire building is heritage-protected by the provincial Department of Culture allowing for repairs and renovation but eschewing any structural change in its original design. The hospital continued to function efficiently until independence as the principal hospital of Karachi and received tremendous impetus after 1945 when the then Governor of Sindh Sir Hugh Dow transferred the medical school provisionally recognized by the Bombay University from Hyderabad to Karachi and laid the foundation of the Dow Medical College in its present location on 10 December 1945, with the Dr. Ruth K.M. Pfau Hospital attached to it as a teaching hospital. The creation of a new state of Pakistan brought with it the need for a massive relief and rehabilitation efforts for hundreds of thousands of migrated people pouring in from India and addressing all their basic needs including health needs through a largely inadequate and unprepared system.A visitor’s book maintained during the late fifties and early sixties indicates that Dr. Ruth K.M. Pfau Hospital was frequented by several dignitaries such as government ministers, ambassadors and eminent personalities visiting Pakistan.A 1961 entry by Lady Bird Johnson then spouse of the Vice President of the USA is particularly revealing: It reads: This has been a visit both heart-breaking and rewarding. My hat is off to you women doctors!

Civil hospital one of the biggest hospital of Karachi city,They have cost free hospital of Karachi by Government. They deal on all disease, like kidney, eyes, liver, bonds all of disease control there. As you know that hospital is totally free so the huge amount of peoples are there on daily basis.Today I am visiting SIUT (sindh institute Urology and transplant)2 day of week the can OPD for diagnose patients and refer to the concerns department of kidney.1 OPD on Saturday and line starts from morning 4am and they tokend up to 1500 to 1700 patients.2nd OPD on Monday patients ratio is less than 800 to 1200.Mostly staff is hypered and uncooperative they are not ready to listing any thing. Not proper parking for patients and visitors.Less then space for sitting and wetting area.Oh Allah please get well soon healthy every person.

Pros: Tertiary health care setup. Up to the mark teaching of the undergraduates (of Dow medical college) Strong post graduate program. Rich in man power but infrastructure is weak & supplies are often out of stock. New Benazir trauma center has good infrastructure.Cons: Weak research work. Mostly retrospect data used for research analyses.Misappropriation of funds, manhandled patients, no place for patients relatives (attendants) to stay. Doctors refer patients to their private clinics. Favoratim in post graduate programs. Traffic jams in streets cause trouble for ambulances. Car parking problem. At least 10 more hospitals of this scale are needed for 250+ million people living in Karach.
