Just stepping in this small love bakery/restaurant gives some really good vibes. The kitchen and bakery is this open space where you can see everything being made and cooked and also they display all their products in front of you where you just pick and choose. Everything also Tastes good, the croissants are just great.
Decent variety of sandwiches and desserts. The freshly baked bread makes all the difference. Taking away one star because the seating capacity is beyond limited, and the dough rolling station is ridiculously positioned. Therefore, you’re forced to take away. By the time you get to eat your sandwiches the majority are cold and soggy. Will need to test the Okra Test Kitchen in-store again to objectively judge. Also the dark chocolate brownies were on point! Just the hint of coconut oil (i think) which was surprisingly great.
Amazing stuff they have. The exclusive part is their kitchen theme. simply love it.
Loved it! TestKitchen was the highlight of my trip to KHI. Amazing food, want to visit Karachi just to come back here.
Great food, but I would like to give a special shoutout to Mahesh, for his excellent customer service and a friendly demeanour.. Two thumbs up!!!
Small cozy place. Limited menu but will highly recommend. Waiting time of 15 to 30 minutes to be seated during weekends
Ive been wanting to visit sonce over a year and finally got to a few days ago. Due to the COVID I didnt have the same experience as I would have loved to, so instead I did a takeaway Grilled Chicken Sandwich in a baguette. The sandwhich orginally comes in a crossant but due to the shortage (which I blame on the weather) I had it a baguette. But let me tell you, despite it being on a lottle pricey side it was amazing. I loved it!!Unfortunately I wasnt abls to try anything else, but hoping to make another Test Kicthen day soon!
Best bakery products. Loved the omelette & bacon croissant. My favourite place for bagels in town. Did takeaway as long waiting line for diners
Test Kitchen is fast becoming my favorite place to go. The place is too small right now though and youre lucky to get a space without waiting. However, the waiting and other inconveniences are secondary to how amazing the food is. Their bread is perfect. Their taste is amazing and the temperature is generally according to preference. Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Steak Sandwich and whatever weve tried in the past is amazing!
Absolutely loved the concept, ambiance and feel to the place. The food sadly lacked. The brownie was tough and dry. The croissant was very buttery and didnt taste very pleasant and the sourdough was not comparable to the quality you get somewhere like Loafology. The iced tea was really good and the I enjoyed the foccacia.
Great taste and unique experience but extremely expensive prices the bill was 120000 for three people for breakfast and not at all affordable
If you are looking for western cuisine with an edge then this is your stop for it. They know how to bake sear cook.
This place is amazing. Had read wonderful reviews and was excited to try it. And it truly lived up to the expectations. The grilled chicken sandwich was the best Ive had anywhere. Coffee was perfect. The strawberry crumble was absolutely to die for. Perfect temperature and flavour. They were out of the brownies. We tried the chocolate caramel bark, also super good. Hats off to Chef Marium and our server Sher Dil for the terrific service. And only drawback was the wait. Otherwise, going back soon!.
Good food... but customer service isnt the best...
Small and quaint with a rustic feel. Really good food. May have a long waiting time and you cannot do prior reservations - and there isnt much space to wait inside so youll probably have to wait outside. Has exactly 4 tables with space to fit 4 on each. Probably one of the best brunch places in Karachi.
Really nice authentic food , really yummy , great experience but a bit crowded, would recommend takeaway
Cramped seating because its a small space. Their baked items are good. Service is very attentive. However, portions are not very generous. The bread/toast was, unfortunately, too dry probably because it was not well made (should be crunchy on the outside and soft inside). The salmon could have been done with a few more embellishments. Eggs (sunnyside & scrambled) were cooked to perfection. Recommended.
Chaotic and crazy. Love their stuff
Had a great time, delicious food, excellent breads. Great place to snack with good company.
Probably the best croissants Ive had in the entire country. The Quiche Lorraine, as well all the breads, are also to die for. Great, quality food with excellent presentation. Just be mindful that the restaurant does not accept reservations and one might have to wait in busy hours.
I returned to this cafe because everyone talked about the bread. This time I orderedMini quiche - very nice and flaky and buttery, highly recommendedSome salmon on multigrain which was not great because the bread was too denseSourdough bread sliced- this is the reason I came. Sadly the sourdough left much to be desired. It was thick and dense with no lightness and slow prove. The slices were also too thick, maybe I should have specified thinner ones. The taste was doughy and chewy and I did not care for it. The sourdough was a fail unfortunately*Written in 2019*Nice little albeit claustrophobic cafe in zamzamaSelection of small plates, which still look massiveIdeally wanted to order 3/4 for two ppl but they are pretty big. Ended up with just one plate eachRoast beef sandwich was suggested and it was goodCoffees took forever to comeDessert was some tart which was good
You will get addicted, the only downfall is the long wait and the urgency to leave as the waiting list are literally standing on your head. The kitchen flowing into the dining space gives it a good energy vibe. The food is outstanding, there isn’t one single item I have had and not liked it. Truly competing with cafes internationally.Must recommendedPortuguese pieScones (no1 does it like them)Chicken croissant sandwichUmami beef sandwichThe desserts are fresh and mouth watering
Really good cold sandwiches and baked goods.
Food was amazing but the staff and overall service was terrible. The staff were rude to the extent that I dont want to visit the location again.
Tiny place, but big on flavor! No printed menus (Go Green!), with a friendly staff and hit-the-spot food make this one place to remember!
Absolutely fabulous. The croissants are easily the best in Karachi and the Rocky Road is not to be missed. Custard tarts are nice too. Beautiful food that you don’t mind paying a bit of a premium for. Just wish it was a bit bigger...
Outstanding food....really impressed by the quality....had grilled chicken sandwich and brownies...and they were out of this world
You can never go wrong with this place
Visited Test Kitchen on a Wednesday evening with some friends. Here’s a review of everything we tried:1. Quiche (7/10)This little savoury pastry was a cute little appetiser before we had our actual meal. The filling was perfectly creamy and the overall flavour was pretty good too. A few pieces of mushroom were also incorporated, which were pleasant. Nothing extraordinary.2. Shaved Beef in Mini Baguette (9/10)When I say this is the best sandwich I’ve tried in Karachi, I mean it! Although seemingly simple, the shaved beef, tomato, spinach all complemented each other beautifully. The star of the dish was the fresh baguette that not only held the sandwich together, but also provided this exquisite rustic flavour to the sandwich. We also asked for parmesan cheese on the sandwich, which I’d 100 % recommend.3. Grilled Chicken Sandwich in Croissant (4/10)Don’t try this. I wont say it tasted horrible, but it didn’t taste pleasant either. Too much mayo, bland chicken....just...eh. The only saving grace perhaps was the croissant, but that was slightly ruined too given the fact that it was over toasted. It became crunchy, while a croissant should be subtly flaky and soft.4. Cold Chocolate (4/10)Overpriced Hershey’s hot chocolate. Just not worth the price tag (Rs. 360). They didn’t even bother to cool down the hot chocolate before throwing ice cubes in it. The end result was a lukewarm chocolate.5. Danish Pastry (9/10)Just delicious. Perfect. Not overpoweringly sweet. The custard was silky and it paired really well with the tart kiwis. Everyone has to try this!I would definitely visit again purely because the positives outshone the negatives. The ambiance is just delightful. The smell of freshly baked breads wafts in the air, the interior is minimalistic yet personal and the service is very attentive.I would recommend visiting Test Kitchen after the crazy lunch hour (around 4-5 pm) if you want to enjoy your food in peace.
Superb breakfast and very accommodating staff!!
Best place for desserts.Main course also worth its money.
Been there mainly for take aways only. So the rating is for the food ordered. Their brownies being a hit with us, though the gooeiness is not the same as it was the first time I had their brownies, some months back. I liked the other desserts ordered; among which were the variety of danish pastries with fruit fillings, their scones, some meatball sandwich, a crab salad, and another sandwich I cannot remember. The variety of breads that I see stacked is also quite inviting, will give them a try too, sometime soon.
Best place in town. Great food, great people.
Best food, questionable service
The food is simple yet complex and full of flavor. Each bite is like the first bite. You can tell each item has been perfected before being added to the menu. Another unexpected plus point for such high quality food the price point is simply baffling
After Shahzada, test kitchen needs to up their game!
One of the best cafes for European food and tea time treats in Karachi. Offers great value for money too!
Food was good, Good selection of breads for take away, very nice brownies, service was not good, was slow, place is small, was a wee bit chaotic.
Shehzada was something out of a beauty and the beast story. Great service
Great food but too congested and poor ventilation.
Keeping up with the Okras quality, the Test Kitchen provides amazing options for dining in especially breakfast/brunch. I had a french omelette which was pretty great and took some artisinal breads home including the Walnut and Raisin bread along with Haloumi and Chilli bread - both were delicious! The place is a bit overcrowded and getting a seat might include a hefty waiting time, so be prepared. You can always opt for takeaway but it is a must-try place in Karachi
Too crowded. The quiche was good. Had to do a takeaway. Even if its a test kitchen, they should be enough space to accommodate more than 10 people. So 3 stars for the lack of space
I had heard very good things but I was honestly quite disappointed. Because there is little space and lots of customers coming for takeaway, we pretty much always had around 10 people standing near table while we were eating, which is a rather uncomfortable eating environment. More importantly however, I found the food to be rather average. We had some quiche and an assortment of sandwiches, none of which were particularly impressive. Although I commend the fresh bread and the dessert we had afterwards was decent, I was still unimpressed with my overall experience.
Best food in Karachi! One of the few restaurants that cooks meat to perfect temperature, and they have the most beautiful, flaky pastry Ive ever had outside of France! Keep it up
Awesomenesz
Best hot chocolateYou cant go wrong with shaved beef sandwich followed by brownie for dessert.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Love the whole concept and food super delish. The head chef/maître d lady was just lovely. Good eating experience.
Overall a good place but slightly over rated in my opinion.
Just about everything was spot onDo NOT miss the chocolate brownieThe only downside is waiting to get a table
It was really inspiring, I went 2 days consecutively, tried many things. But today I spotted a fly inside cafe, thats was I gave 2 stars.Shahzada is very welcoming btw, so is Maryam and rest of the staff.
Great quality of desserts but overpriced.
Top notch food but its a bit cramped. Feels like you need to rush through the food cuz it looks is busy all the time.
Perhaps the only place you can get a real croissant. The bread is really good.
Great food. Definitely a must visit to eat
Great Food and Service as always...
Its something really different. A little cramped for space but thats the whole deal it looks busy and tastes delicious.
Amazing place to have tea and snacks. There breads are yum
Absolutely love this place. Theyve got great food and almost Everytime you get to see something new added to the menu. I love the fact that theyve got an experimental aspect to this restaurant while at the same time theyve managed to perfect a few of their recipes.
Great taste. Expect long waiting
Food was pretty good. The place is crowded and the price point is insane.
Sandwich was awesome
Ordering process not very well thought out. However food is good and makes up for the cramped seating.
The food was out of this world, and not even THAT expensive for such high standards. But the major detractor from the whole experience is the sitting experience - the place is tiny and constantly jam packed with people standing on your head and counting your bites waiting for you to get done and leave.
Literally the best food in Karachi, which has the best food in Pakistan. So this is the best eatery in Pakistan.
Not good not bad
The best bread in town
Tiny place. Long wait for tables (1 hour) music is like some kind of rave that totally doesn’t match the place and not a single vegan option on the menu.
Amazing food every time
Flavours are spot on. Ingredients are fresh.
Calming Environment & satisfactory staff.
Great food. Quite expensive
Awesome freshly made bread of all types!
Wow - what a refreshing concept. An experience only OKRA can create. Tiny place with live kitchen and an ever changing menu. Chaotic yet welcoming ambiance with friendly service. Food was fabulous, fresh and not overdosed with sauces or spices.Tried Quiche Lorraine (vegetarian), sliced beef with Chimol sauce, Grilled Chicken on Croissant, and Salmon (Creme Fraiche). Hands down the best Salmon I’ve had in Karachi. Beef was succulent and Chimol sauce provided just the right flavour. Also tried the baguette and focaccia bread and both were worth taking home. For dessert ordered the brownie, strawberry tart, and scone. The brownie was soft and moist, almost a cross between brownie and lava cake, and absolutely delicious. Strawberry Tart was good. Scone with Creme cheese and Jam almost as good as in London.
Highly recommend, good food and execllent service
Excellent food
It is always a great experience whether one is dining in or going for a take out.
Best beef sandwich in karachi ! Limited space is the only issue
Loved the sliced beef fillets. But the service was slower than expected.
Overhyped. Food taste is nothing special
Places like Test Kitchen are Gods way of rewarding Karachiites for our chaotic lives
Grilled chicken sandwich is the best
Best spot in town, without a doubt
Small place with plenty of good food
It was crowded but the food was good
Because i found every test in this testkitchen
Excellent food but place is too congested and crowded
Original fresh food.
It is my go to place for soul food !!
Everything was great especially the scones.
Good food, but long waiting and expensive
Great food and bakery
Long wait times for no good reason though
Great food !
The beat croissants in K-Town!!!
Everything is delicious
Delicious scones
