Wazir Mansion known officially as Quaid-e-Azam Birth Place Museum, is a former family home in the Kharadar Karachi Sindh which is considered to be the birth place of the countrys founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah.It was built during 1860-1870 with stone masonry in lime and jute mortar to suit the volatile weather of Karachi.Quaid-e-Azams father, Mr. Jinnah Bhai Poonja, was settled in Karachi because of a business partnership with an English Merchant company named Grams Trading Company, whose office was then located in Karachi.Jinnahs ancestral family and their progenies including M. A. Jinnahs daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren have been residents, to this day, of the province of Gujarat and Bombay. Muhammad Ali Jinnahs father got the house (now Wazir Mansion) for rent in 1874 and settled here for some time. By 1900, he returned to his native state, Gujarat, British India. Gowardhan Das who was also among the owners of this building from whom Wazir Ali Ponawala (from whom the house had got its name Wazir Mansion) bought it at some point in 1904.The Government of Pakistan, in 1953, acquired this historic building. Under Ancient Monuments Preservation Act, the government protected it. Then the Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD) was assigned the work of its conservation and renovation. It was formally inaugurated as Jinnahs birthplace museum on 14 August 1953. A project of strengthening, preservation, and rehabilitation was completed by the government in 2010.Now this birthplace museum is a three-storey building with a library and museum galleries.The house now serves as a museum and a national archive. The house where Mohammad Ali Jinnah spent 16 years of his childhood and youth is a precious national monument that provides inspiration to our nation. There used to be a Karachi Circular Railway station called Wazir Mansion. In 2009, Wazir Mansion was closed for renovation temporarily but was reopened for visitors later.

It is near Kharadhar Police Chowki. Since it is birth place of founder of Pakistan, every body respect it. Anybody can come from Merewether Tower. The train station is also given the name Wazir Mansion on Mauripur Road near Khadda area.

This place is well maintained. The historical place is remembered as the birth place of the founder of Pakistan - Quiad-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. It is closed on sunday. You must visit this place whenever you get a chance.

The amount spend and considering that it is the Birth place of Father of Nation I rated this place 3. It should be more vibrant and its surrounding should be crystal clean which is opposite.

It was an auspicious day of December 25, 1876, when the founder of our homeland, i.e. Pakistan, was born.[1] Wazir Mansion now may be the widely accepted birthplace of Quaid-e-Azam, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. Once, his birthplace was misunderstood to be Jhirk, an old small town near Karachi, which was later revealed to be untrue. The reality was disclosed in the book My Brother written in the 1960s by Muhammad Ali Jinnahs sister, Fatima Jinnah in his biography wherein she described the salient features of her brothers life. She mentioned their ancestral village, Paneli, in the state of Gondal, Kathiawar, in the province of Gujarat, in present-day India. Wazir Mansion is located in Kharadar. The place is secured by Pakistan Rangers which was a pleasant surprise. The exterior of the building is largely intact and maintained. Upon entering, the caretakers ask for CNIC and strangely if you are from karachi or not. The ground floor is empty with nothing to show. On the first floor, there is Quaids library. His large collection of law books and his study table. Further inside, there is a bedroom where Mohammad Ali Jinnah was given birth. The bed is intact. However, the sofas are in need of repairs.On the second floor, we were welcomed by stench emanating due to wet carpets i guess. However, the room contains relics used by the Quaid himself. His clothing, shoes to this day look extraordinary. His famous monocle and smoking pipe are also in this room.All in all a treat for someone who has interest in Quaid-e-Azam and the history of that place

Great experience. My kids saw first time our quaids birth place. But it is a very conjugated place . Too difficult to reach in car on a working day.. better to visit on holiday or left a car far away

Could manage a visit on Wednesday when Wazir mansion is closed but even then there was rush & congestion on narrow streets. Although most of the people were on foot or bikes. A mosque on left side of this building. At Kharadar, situated in old Karachi, a typical aura gives you a nostalgic feeling.. There is lot more to see and experience in Kharadar. Its made of wood, there is furniture of his wife its old and unique design, his stamp with his name of logo, dresses laws books , there ramgers will inform all abut his house, neighbours keeps knowledge quids life, they love him, we love our Quaide azam, Pakistan zindabad, Its closed Wednesday , timing of other days are 10 am to 4 pm,
