Karachi zoo is supervised by Karachi Municipal corporation and perhaps only government operated zoo in Karachi. Its a big place and recently the government have made many changes to make it more entertaining. But still it has many areas where there is a need of improvement. One of the biggest downfalls is that it is really not family friendly. Any one can enter the zoo and most of the times single boys and men are an annoyance for the ladies. Many cages are empty or the animals are not healthy. Its also because maybe they are not well fed. Anyway a moderate place to visit. Needs lots of improvements. Peace
An old historical place of interest for visitors of Karachi is this famous zoo.Once Mahatma Gandhi Garden was converted to Zoo by British rulers in 1878.For the first time in life I visited with my elder brother in 1961 December ,then with my own children in 1990 and this time it was my grand childrens turn to visit on 9th July 2017 Sunday and get educated. The lay out is same old pattern but this time cleanliness appeared improved and better.Ticket per head is only Rs.20/- Old lush green trees with animals in well kept cages have Lions,Tigers,Deer,Birds and Reptiles. One can see white lion as well.Zoo has its own veterinary hospital inside the garden. We found our kids interested in Lions,Tigers and Flamingos.
Fantastic Place Renovated ,parking inside amazing with Fee Rs 100 and entry Fee for adult Rs 50 per head if someome from district Central wanna visit come directly from Liyari Express way for Management they need to provide some swings and rides for more entertainment needs consideration Mosques Washrooms not sufficient and tidy
Parking charges was too much, little more management and cleaning required. A direction maps after every few steps would be added part. Environment was good since it was a weekday. Kids enjoyed some rides and watching white lions and tiger.
After a long.... Time had a visit with kids... And I was amazed after watching the drastic improvement in cleanliness and atmosphere...Entry ticket was only PKR 30 however parking was for PKR 100...It was better than before very less smell.. some of the animals are very skinny... Which was a bit disappointing however I had a visit 5 years back.. and that was horrible...In comparison with what I have seen earlier and what I saw just recently I must give it 3.5 stars.. Tip: go early I. The morning around 9 am so u will not find out too crowdy...Cheers thumbs up !!!
The entry ticket is Rs. 50 per person and parking is for Rs. 100. Cleanliness and maintenance has improved. More animals have come to the zoo such as white lion, chimpanzee, etc. Nice place to visit
Nice place to go with family. But in very bad condition, no maintenance. Government should look into it.
Its a huge area located in the heart od Karachi but very poorly managed. The govt. should take proper care of the zoo.Few years back I had visited the zoo & had many animals there. The condition of zoo itself was fair. Now many animals are missing, the condition in which the animals are kept is not upto the mark. Instead of animals there are more rides. People come to the zoo to see the animals not to take rides. Rides are there in the parks & there are many of them. Plz take care of these animals & try to increase the numbers instead of decreasing it. Zoo has becoming a dating point. Couples hiding in places which makes the visitors shamefull. Management should take notice of these issues otherwise if they cant run it properly then they should give it to a private organisation so that they could run properly.
Yesterday i had a family picnic here it was great I really enjoyed there tickets was on very cheap prices every ticket is under 50pkrs nearly animal is in the zoo park was safe for people because animals are in heavey metal cages food items are also available I also visited museum and aquarium aquarium is my favorite
Good place to visit with folksElephant are very peaceful and friendly .Shocked to see golden tiger and and white lion in very good condition
This is Karachi Zoo. There are very few animals here. There are only ducks. Animal health is also a major concern. There is no proper cleaning arrangement. It is impossible to see animals from cages. Dirty cages and poor health animals. Visited Karachi Zoo but unfortunately it was more than that.
Paring fee of Rs 100 and entry fee of Rs 50 each for 3 years old and above sounds reasonable when you see the clean and green environment. Animals are kept in an adequate environment. Some species of trees are only find here in Pakistan. The number of animals here are more than the infamous Danzoo in Bharia Town. Some new inclusions like grizzly bear and cassowary are very good. Snake house is also well maintained with a separate ticket of Rs 20. Joy rides for kids and jumping castles are also good inclusions.
This is a good place but lacks so many basic facilities. Animals are kept in unhygienic condition. The water of the pond where birds reside is dangerously contaminated and stinky. The main park is off which causes trouble for families which come with the sole purpose of entertainment.Information labelled at each cage is good and provides rudimentary knowledge to the visitors. There is no cleanliness and you can find easily find trash and garbage lingering all around.Washroom facility is improper and incomplete. This zoo park needs many reforms. But, final comment for this park is:something is better than nothing.
Just from looking at this place, its a hell hole, cages with nothing in it..... Just poor lost souls. Saddens me to think these places are allowed to be open, none of these beautiful animals are in there natural environment.
The lovely place for your children. It gives you a pleasure environment. Nice gardens, unique animals.
It was awesome day with family. Enjoy together. Kids were happy to see the animals. But some disappointment are also there is that the rides section was closed and some construction work is in the progress. Food items are also unhygienic in most shops.Car parking charges 100 rupeesEntry Per person 50 rupeesNo charges for kidsTo see closely 10 rupees per person
Good but dont expect much.
Karachi zoo park is now developed by Govt.KarachiKarachi Zoo, established in year 1878, was commonly called as Mahatma Gandhi Garden. Earlier in 1861, the zoo was transferred to municipality by the British Indian government. In 1878, the municipality placed the zoo under a trust to be developed out of public subscription. Later, the zoo was once again opened to public in 1881. After the independence of Pakistan in 1947, the name was changed to Karachi Zoological Gardens or Karachi Zoo for short. In 1953, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation introduced a zoo curator and a qualified veterinary doctor.[1] In 1991-2 CDGK for remodelling of Natural History Museum, which was carried out. In 1992, the Japanese Princess inaugurated the remodeled Natural History Museum. In 2008, total employees of Karachi Zoo is about 240 staff members.
Even though it is the best zoo in all Pakistan ,it is a very unhealthy and unhappy place for animals. The animals are not well fed and do not have free enclosures nor ones matching to their natural habitat ,which are essential factors for captive animals .The lack of veterinary doctors ,zoo officials and staffs made the zoo to maintain low standard .It also is not cleaned properly .Vandalism is prevalent .Animals are disturbed as well.Overall it is a good zoo
Such a great experience bohat Maza aya
Need better infrastructure, planning and management according to huge number of daily visitors.
Neat and cleanWell maintained park and reasonable entry ticket
Very good place for children knowledge in birds and animals.
Best place for entertainment but if you go to the dark side so animals are not treated well,i hope that as soon as possible the issue will be solved, but for enjoyment you can go there
A better recreational place for public
Good place to take children ️
I love this place bast zoo but animals time to time mines this zoo beautiful animals like loins brids monkeys sneaks fish place 1 time veset the place veey injoymint.......
Not clean, garbage every where. No friendly environment for Kids
Just little bit enjoy for kids, play land is under construction.
About half the animals are now gone. The place is pretty dirty, though its green. Seen it fully.
Enough parking space is available... Zoo at affordable price.
Zoo was really good with different animals, birds and fishes. The zoo also had rides for children and families.
Great park. Good place to see animals. Visitors will enjoy this.
This park is very big and beautiful. There are all kinds of animals including lions, elephants, zebras, ostriches, tortoises and other kinds of animals. There are also small trains hereThere are very old types of trees here٠The park has a variety of toys for kids and small vehicles for children to engage in.There is also a pond in which boats run
The Karachi Zoo (Urdu: کراچی چڑیاگھر; Sindhi: ڪراچي زو چڙيا گهر), also known as Karachi Zoological Gardens, is located in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Cleanliness not maintained, Prayer area left unattended while children play area is limited
Karachi zoo has magnificently improved living and food standard of animals. They have also worked on the habitats against respective creatures. Must visit with children
Looks great lione,s tigers
In day time its very good but after sunset it gets very dark because there are no lights
Karachi Zoo is one of the oldest recreational point of Karachi...but yet again the most ignored one...but from last few years condition got better but still v much place to improve regarding Animals birds condition.. cleaning... environment...hope authorities will emphasis on issues.
The condition is not that good the animals seem morally down and seriously mistreated... Tho the Snake house seemed cool
Its great but they did not let as take photos of mumtaz fox
You can take children to have a visit here. Nice place for kids to see different animals. However the cages net for animals are so narrow to see animals properly and they have painted the cages in white so the eye sight of one may be disturbed.
Busy and enjoying place . That was my first visit
For name same, it is a zoo . Children enjoy rides.. thats all
Feeling sad to see most of the animals are living in awful environment majority of cages are empty Rihno Zebra Giraffe and many other animals whuch were previously present found missing Bear found in misseable condition Zoo administration need to look into it otherwise same situation will occur with Karachi zoo that was happend with Islamabad zoo have mercy with poor innocent animals and with Karachites
I feel need food street with retal prices
Best and economical place to visit with children...specially beginner levels to learn proper names of animals as well as see live!!!!
Place has got good range of animals. But problem is the maintenance of the animal cages is poor. Similarly it is a big place and one expects it should be kept clean but level of cleanliness is not upto the mark. People visiting also dont bother to throw the plastic into garbage boxes rather throwing on path ways. Govt. Really need to take care of those poor animals, there is a hell of a difference between denzoo and karachi zoo.
İts quite good to show children and students so many different animals. Amphibian, reptiles mammals and a lot more birds. The place is wide enough to spend a whole day around.
No comments.dont waste ur time ane petrol .
Dirty and non maintained can see alot of potential but there seems to be no will
Zoo is the place situated in Garden Town Karachi. Its an attractive place specially for kids.Where they can find different species of animals and birds.People usually complains about the cleanliness but its a cheap entertainment.
A nice place to visit with kids, not very clean but at least we get charged parking inside , many cage were empty, but we saw bears, Lions, Tiger, Puma , elephants, deers, a Zebra, ostrich, turtle s, tortillas, makao, peacocks, only two monkeys, a couple of chimpanzee, snake house , alligators, python, white lion

In 1992, the Japanese Princess inaugurated the remodeled Natural History Museum. In 2008, total employees of Karachi Zoo is about 240 staff members.Elephant House is the most famous exhibit in the zoo. A 65-year-old Asian elephant, named Anarkali, died on 19 July 2006.[2] Two female African bush elephants arrived at the zoo on 16 May 2010 from Karachi Safari Park. Both were born in Tanzania in 2007 and have been named Noor Jahan and Madhu Bala.[3]Natural History Museum, renovated in 1992, is one of the more famous attractions in Karachi Zoo. Apart from stuffed animals, skins, antlers, horns and feathers etc. are also placed on display in the museum. The facility is used by zoology students for research and educational purposes.[2]Reptile House was extended and renovated in 1992. It is one of the few reptile houses in Pakistan. There are 13 species of snakes and lizards. Newly born hatchlings of testudines and crocodilians are also exhibited.[2]Veterinary Hospital was established in 1998 in Karachi Zoo with modern diagnostic facilities. There is an operation theatre, equipped with X-ray and sonogram facilities, multiple sick bays, a laboratory and an incubation room.Mughal Garden, established in 1970, has green lawns with seasonal plants that occupy a major part of the garden accompanied with Mughal-style fountains. The garden is famous for different varieties of roses and other flowers that are exhibited there.[2]White Lions, purchased in 2012 and a big draw for the zoo, are a part of a breeding programme.
Good place but animals are short
Worst place...dont even visitpeshawer and lahore zoo is far better than this so called Zoo and garden...
After last year renovation. Zoo become very much better.
Good place but they dont have dust bins on all places. Facilities can be more better then this
A real downer of a place. Unfortunately majority of Karachis public places. Dirt, dust, and trash about. Quite a few of the enclosures were empty. The few animals that were there, were poorly kept. Not very active and not at all appearing in good health. And top of it all. No parking within the zoo!! WTF??
Zoo is nice for kids but it should be only for families. Single entry must be banned its not good for only ladies.
In just 50 rupees you can enjoy.
There is a chungi system all over the place. They are giving you few parchis to earn money. No need to go and waste time and money.
Housekeeping work is very poor...And wild life is not safe like other places
Its a good place to visit specially with family n children. The highlights were the white lions, Bengal tiger n the elephants.Other include turtles, crocodiles n alot more. Food points n play areas for children.
Animals hungary. Please try best
Best place for outings u feel like in some real wild you are
Apart from the animals, everything else was good
Because there is nothing to see and in the enjoyment. If anyone go to Karachi zoo. Thay waste of time.
Felt contended after making the visit to Karachi Zoo. Its been like a visit after 12 years. There is a large variety of animals and covers a huge area. The animals have been provided with natural habitats like for the Lions, tigers there is a terrace where they can sit & relax, for bears they have pond to dive in and swim but the sad part that the quantity of animals is very less as compared to area provided. I saw only one zebra & an ostrich in a very big cage. The vicinity needs to be improved considerably as plantation is poor and benches are broken but again keeping an entry ticket to as low as 30 Pkr per person its a worthy place for family to enjoy the enzymes of wild nature.
Not soo good for single person its better to came with family
Karachi Zoo Park is a very good visiting place for kids and for elders as well. Its out side surrounded by different type of shops. One side existing with battery repairing shops in a row. Different stalls and small shops for snacks are present there. e.g Jalibi, Pakorey, samosey etc. On Another side for fried fish
Very good place to visit for kids..neat and clean
Karachi zooo park very. nice place and gardan and see animals like birds elaphent tiger and must.more like peace
A lot can be done to improve this place, from parking to cleanliness, animals to eating places.Still a good place to visit with kids. One tip, reach early to get parking inside the zoo, otherwise your life will be in trouble.
Its was now modified since my childhood I visited there lots of times so go with your family and enjoy
Nice place for kids to see different animals.
Assalam o alaykum very good zoo in Karachi
Different kinds of Animals and birds were available there, Kids enjoyed.
Cool place to visit, try visiting in early hours... it is a Historic landmark in Karachi
Disappointing!! So many cages were empty with no giraffe ,zebra, bear. The remaining animals were in bad condition. Dont want to bring my kid again
An excellent experience, so many childhood memories here, Its in top of my priorities list at every visit to Pakistan. There are few rare animals like elephants which I havent seen in other international zoos like Dublin zoo in 2012, Toronto zoo in 2011, calgary zoo (it never had, nor will have in future, Its the worst of all three zoos. only penguins worthy of visit there)My kids love the elephants here and we spent most of our time feeding them. The person responsible for elephants chatted with my mom about the elephants in the past when kids could have ride on them. One suggestion is to bring carrots or some healthy snacks for them.Next we visited lemur and white lion and its lioness, beautiful macaw, huge enormous turtles. On the whole this zoological was way more cleaner now than my previous visit in 2017.Staff were really helpful and cooperative. Me and my mom had nice interaction with them particularly Muhammad Faisal guided us about the animals. We also rode the boat; the rowing one, it was memorable too. The aquarium has good collection of beautiful fishes. I loved two species in particular that I didnt expect to be present. We had a limited time so couldnt visit the museum and the reptile house. Hopefully someone can add pictures and review of those two too.One bad thing I ve observed was the parking issue, u cant park your car here. I would have given a three because of it but the willingness of staff made me change my ratingAnother issue is the baradai park its not opened for public although it seemed well maintained. I saw some families inside but upon inquiry they said only staff families allowed there. Also I hope that the city government gets funding from Sindh government so that this place can be restored to what it was 30 years ago.May Allah bless our Karachi and our beloved Pakistan Ameen.
Good zoo but animals are very poor
Not well maintained, have fewer animal than it could contain. You have to buy tickets to get in, than again and again to get into snake house, rare animals room (actually dead animals bodies kept safe there). Its just okay.
Best for children but not for elders there must be something interesting for adults
Very well maintained and slowly making it a lot better .. it was surprisingly clean.
Karchi zoo is not same as I remember.Animals are not kept wisely, only few animals are remaining
Karachi Zoo is also Known as Karachi Zoological Gardens.Located in KarachiKarachi is the Capital of SindhSindh is the province of PakistanIt is the Largest Zoo in PakistanAnd It is the second Oldest Zoo in the country of Pakistan after Lahore Zoo.Date Opened: 1878Location: Nishter road, Sir A.K. lll road Karachi, Sindh Pakistan.Land area : 33 acresIt is commonly called as Mahatma Gandhi GardenIn 1961 the Zoo was transferred to municipality placed the Zoo under a trust to be developed out of public subscription.Later the was once again opened to public in 1947, the name was changed to Karachi zoological Garden or Karachi Zoo for short in 1953.Currently The total strength of Karachi zoo is about 240 staff members.
Although this zoo has never been at par with any international zoo but still it was used to be a great fun to go there in our childhood. It was used to have plenty of grass and good amount of animals. At present you will find dust everywhere, no clean water inside cages and dirty cages.Multiple layers of net in front of each cage makes it harder for kids to view inside.
Normal because many animals are not available to see, also important that specially elephant and leopard are not available to see how shame and worst to go and see this zoo, childrens are much disappointed about that.
Fantastic Family place. Specially for children.
Visiting in morning is good, you cant stay after sunset due to no lights on streets
So many childhood memories there ! Great place for hangout with kids and family..
Its a. Very good zoo for kids and family
Very poor condtion of all animals and people pakistan....
Its place is very beautiful ️
Karachi Zoo is probably the oldest Zoo in Pakistan. is also the biggest zoo in Pakistan. Very popular among kids as well as adults.if you want to get the most out of the zoo, then visit the zoo around 11am when its not populated. However if you also want to enjoy the rides in the zoo then you must go to zoo at 3pm. Its a nice place to spend a wonderful day with children.
