One of the few places that are dedicated to Arts and Culture. Theatre activities and different launch programs are being hosted at the Arts Council. Previous month, got an opportunity to visit Arts Council and hosted an Annual celebration of Pakistan Yoga Council. The arrangements were good for the attendees. Renovation works in progress at the Arts Council. Parking was an issue and have to park the cars at the roadside. This however can be managed by inside parking and through valay services.

The facilities over here are probably not state of the art but checks most boxes. As a viewer there is a decent arrangement of seats and you get to see the most famous artists perform here and a lot of lesser known but incredibly talented ones as well. Parking is the biggest issue of this place, since its situated in one of the most busiest areas of Karachi. However vallet service is available which solves this problem to a great extent.

I recently visited Arts council to watch their new play Kyun Nikala by Anwar Maqsood sahib. The place is well organized and maintained by the Management. The only issue is with the Valet parking. Staff is not enough to cater huge public gatherings. Most if the time people take the car keys from the helpdesk themselves and rush towards their car.

This is one of the most wonderful places in Karachi. The Arts Council is like the nucleus of performing arts and we are like the neutrons, protons and electrons revolving around it. The president Arts Council, Mr. Ahmed Shah is a brilliant man, a great leader in himself, has successfully developed the Arts Council over the years. I recommend this place if you want to see the diverse programs, theater, music shows. And also you can organise any such program here at a minimum rates.

I watched the drama Kyun Nikala. The cast was superb. The dialogue was quite entertaining. What surprised me was acoustics. There really was no need of mics and speakers. The actors voices carried really well in the auditorium. The bathrooms were clean and adequate. The only disappointing thing was the space in the rows for patrons. They really squished your feet while getting into their seats.Valet parking was a relief

In 1948, a group of art enthusiasts gathered and formed themselves into a society under the name of Karachi Fine Arts Society. It was first of its kind to promote and encourage arts and culture in Pakistan. It held exhibitions and promoted activities relating to theatre. The funds of the society were contributed personally by the members themselves. They had no permanent building of their own. Their meetings were therefore held at the residences of the office bearers. Art exhibitions were held in rented space in private houses. Six years later in 1954, the Karachi Fine Arts Society was reorganized into a body called the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi. This organization was registered with the registrar of societies, Karachi, under Act XX1 of 1860. (The Registration Certificate was issued on 10 May 1955). After its formation, the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi stepped up activities in the field of arts and culture. It also has sponsored production of plays and musical programs - for example, it recently held a Musical Tribute Event in 2017 in honor of the late Bade Fateh Ali Khan (Pakistans famous classical music singer) in its auditorium. The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi is arguably the largest council made for the purpose of promoting arts and culture in Pakistan, and perhaps the busiest in terms of organizing events on a yearly basis. Given the kind of sociopolitical turn that the country has taken with reference to religious extremism, it makes the council all the more significant an institution to uphold and foster the traditions of the arts that aim to give society a balanced approach to life. It is the countrys oldest and most famous NGO (non-government organization) that deals in promotion and development of arts and crafts in Pakistan.Karachi Arts Council has four academies of its own that help in fostering raw talent and developing them into real performers. These include:Theatre AcademyIt helps in teaching script-writing, directing, acting, cinematography, editing, and production management.Music AcademyIt helps in the teaching of violin playing, flute playing, dholak playing, vocals training, guitar playing and other classical instruments.Fine Arts AcademyIt helps in teaching and developing literature, floral art, architecture, interior designing, and sculpture.FacilitiesFollowing are some facilities offered by the Arts Council of Pakistan for hosting events:AuditoriumOpen Air Theatre Permanent Art GalleryLibrary / Reading RoomAudio / Visual LibraryCultural Café
