It is a small building (about 60 square meters) with a blend of Greek architecture and not truly the Greek style. It has several rooms and the roof is used as a big platform on which there are four-sided Greek style arches. It is made of marble and its white building attracts the eye from a distance. The gables and columns are characteristically Greek, and on the gables there are battle depictions and the star of Macedonia. In the center of the monument there is a cylindrical base having a marble plate with a colored map of the entire campaign of Alexander the Great. It is about a 2 & a half hour drive from capital city Islamabad on road leading to Khewra Salt Mines from Jehlum, near a small town called Jalalpur Sharif. A signboard leads the location of monument.Alexander founded a town in the area and named it Bucephala, after his horse called Bucephalus. The town later acquired the name of Girjakh and finally named Jalapur by its ruler Malik Darwesh Khan Janjua in honor of Moghul emperor Jalaluddin Akbar, who visited this town.Alexander had buried his horse near the modern day town of Jalalpur Sharif, just before or after his famous battle of Raja Porus on the other side of the river Jhelum in May, 326 BC. He is said to have probably built a monument as well but no traces of that are ever found. However, in 1997 due to the interest taken by Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, the monument was built.I went there with my family and it was locked, there was a small room on other side of the Monument and an old man was found there. He was guard of said location and said nice old age Baba opened it for us and we enjoyed. A series of rooms is also located in basement of monument whereas some pirated relics are set on display

Very neglected monument currently. No one is taking care. Closed from all sides. However, building reminded me of old Roman and Greek buildings as seen in Hollywood war movies. Unfortunately, one such monument should have been built on the other side of river Jehlum in the name of MAHARAJA PORUS the great warrior son of this land who decided to protect his motherland from a foreign invasion and preferred his martyrdom over surrender as suggested by his relative Raja Ambi(a tractor). Sikander was Greek and Porus was Punjabi.

The monument is deserted and like ghost house, not properly managed. This was established for the memory of a battle between the Punjabi king Raja Porus and Alexander. It is established in the Punjab, very illogical, it was much better to erect a monument for Raja Porus.

This Alexander the Great monument was built in 1997 in Pakistan. It is located close to the town of Jalalpur Sharif, where Alexander buried his horse in 326 BC.This monument is located in district Jhelum at 32° 39 53 N, 73° 24 31 E. It easily accessible, as a good road passes by the monument. Take an exit from the Lilla Interchange on M2 and travel first to Pind Dadan Khan about 25 kilometers away and then continue towards Jhelum for further 35 kilometers and reach Jalalpur Sharif. The monument is less than a kilometer in north from here. As the road is good so it is not difficult to reach here. If you ever plan a tour of this area, you can include a visit to Khewra Salt Mines, which are just 6 kilometers north of Pind Dadan Khan.Alexander buried his horse near the modern day town of Jalalpur Sharif in district Jhelum just before or after his famous battle of Raja Porus on the other side of the river Jhelum in May, 326 BC. He probably built a monument as well. But no traces of that are to be found. However, in 1997 AD due to the interest taken by Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan a new monument was built on the same spot. It is a big building with a blend of Greek architecture. It has several rooms and the roof is used as a big platform on which there are four sided Greek style arches. It is made of marble and its white building attracts from a distance.Alexander also founded a town a here and name it Bucephala after his horse. Which later on acquired the name of Girjakh and finally named Jalapur by its ruler Malik Darwesh Khan Janjua in honour of Moghul emperor Jalaluddin Akbar, who visited this town.Visiting Time : 10 am to 5 pmEntry Fee Rs

This monument was financed by Greek Embassy in Pakistan & Build at a private premises of Mr Arshad Sadiq who in turn was the beneficiay of this funding for personal gains & popularity as it was built 1 Mile away From the actual site, where Alexander Army was supposed to camp before their encounter with Raja Porus, The Real Hero of Jhelum, a great Nationalist to be remembered instead of the invader.
