Tomb of Mian Ghulam shah Kalhoro is national heritage site in Hyderabad. I recently visit this place after 2 years and they have been doing repair and reconstruction work on it. It will really great place to visit. On my first visit I was very disappointed after seeing the condition of tombs and pollution around. It is one of very few places of Hyderabad which can attract tourist.

The tomb of Mian Ghulam Shah Kalhora is one of the most important monuments of the city and represents the typical architecture of Kalhora’s period. The tomb was constructed in 1772 A.D. by his son Sarfraz Khan Kalhora and was in a very sound condition of preservation till its dome gave way. The tomb is a great massive structure standing upon a square platform and surrounded by a massive wall in a fortress shape, but now badly damaged.

Mian Ghulam Shah Kalhoro was famous ruler of the Kalhora Dynasty whose rule began in 1757 when he was appointed ruler of Sindh by tribal Chiefs of kalhora replacing his brother Mian Muradyab Kalhoro. The Mausoleum of Kalhoro is 56×56 in width and 36 feet in height. The shrine is built inside a rectangular shaped fort. The interior of the tomb is a wonderful example of Sindhi art which is decorated with gildings, arc shaped windows and tiles. The arc-shaped windows are filled with terracotta grilles of geometrical patternsDuring the first decade of this century, its dome fell down, probably through settlement of its foundation.
