Ive never seen such a quirky store like this! It has all the gear you need, plus amazing bikes for rent! Our salesman was so nice and was able to easily fit me with the correct bike! They have easy access to the rest of the presidia and you can bike from here to the Golden Gate Bridge. I will definitely be back!

Came in with blisters and ill-fitting boots and left with not only boots that felt great, but an invigorated spirit for the outdoors thanks to the time and patience of a knowledgable and friendly employee, Jim in footwear. Jim was juggling and assisting probably five different customers but he found time to assist in my fitting for new hiking boots. And he didn’t just measure the size of my foot like your everyday employee. This hero of the outdoors took the time to try various fitting tests, explain proper lacing and wear technique, and even gave me a biology lesson in foot structure. The man knew it all. He’s one of the finest employees I’ve ever met and it was an honor to shake the hand of someone who not only has a passion for the outdoors, but clearly a passion to teach and help others enjoy nature to the fullest. See you out there, Jim.

Very clean store with friendly and helpful staff. If youre wandering around chances are one of them will ask you if you need help but they arent pushy. Theyre pretty informative if you need help picking out gear or shoes. There are plenty of supplies all around for different types of outdoor activities except fishing. Pretty limited in that area. 4 stars only because its expensive. Most things are gonna be cheaper on Amazon but its a good place to go if you need something now.

REI is a seriously cool business. Their focus on customer service and knowledgeable employees makes every shopping experience there a delight. They always have what Im looking for and can help me find what I need. The prices are sort of high, but with a membership they become a lot lower. Also, the fact that it is a co-op where the executives have a fiduciary responsibility to customers rather than shareholders makes it a more ethical company to support in my book.

REI is the place to go when looking for outdoor equipment (hiking, camping, biking, most outdoors sports, etc.). Employees are usually friendly and knowledgeable about products and activities, although usually trying to persuade you to sign up for a membership which can be potentially off-putting. If you enjoy, need or are able to purchase a lot of items here, having a membership (to get that annual dividend!) or the REI credit card could be beneficial to you.

I really enjoy going during their 20% off member special period, they have these a few times a year. They also have garage sales of returned gear where you can really grab a deal since most stuff is barely used and its seriously makes down. You gotta be a member to go though, but it only cost $20 for lifetime membership. Not bad if you ask me.
