I have enjoyed buying specialty food items at Deluxe foods of Aptos for the past 23 years. Is this review I want to talk about my excellent experience with the bakery department. During the pandemic getting a good birthday cake has been difficult. So I decided to give Deluxe Foods a try. I asked for a rich, moist, dense triple-layer chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream inside and out. The result (see pic) looks very good and was delicious. The price was very reasonable. I also ordered some muffins. They make real muffins: not overly sweet nor cakey. As an ex-New Yorker, I was in heaven eating one of their corn muffins.

Deluxe has been around longer than I have, which is over 30 years easy. In that time its always been good, and changed for the better.On average prices are higher, but products are also higher quality and often local.Notable: the butcher department is excellent, their premarinaded cuts are top notch. I cook a lot and I trust them. Good wine selection. Good breads. The deli has always been a great sandwich. Also they have vegetated, so, bonus points!

Went there looking for a particular cut of meat. The guy at the counter said we dont have that, but I can make you one then he went into the back, came out with a side of beef and proceeded to carve it up right before our eyes. All the while telling the story of how this cut of meat came to be... something about the British defeating the French, I dunno, I was kinda just enthralled by the whole thing. 5 stars

Delux Foods in Aptos is a Fantastic grocery store. Also owner Marc Monte has been instrumental in helping local schools, sports and community folks.

It is easily going to be my go to grocery. Outstanding selection and quality in meats, cheeses, deli, produce. Even has Peets coffee. Extraordinarily friendly staff. Kudos to Mario.

Its been awhile since I have been to this store and it still looks the same which is good for the locals in the area. Great customer service here, I was a little bummed when I found out they no longer sell yogurt cheese, Im not sure if its seasonal or something they stopped selling in general. Definitely will be coming back in the future

This is a nice little, high end grocery store just off the freeway in Rio Del Mar. They have a great hot table buffet with breakfast items in the morning and numerous different entrees and side dishes in the afternoon and evening. Truly great sandwiches at the deli. An excellent selection of gourmet cheeses along with a great beer and wine choices. The only drawbacks are they are small and rather expensive.

Selection for artisan goods is really great, but the prices are a bit high. Better to switch it up between there and Safeway if you can get stuff for cheaper at Safeway I would say head there which most of the time you can but for the special order the unique stuff you want to buy go to deluxe foods cuz they have that kind of stuff

Very interesting and wide selection of hot food in the deli, a Peets Coffee in-store, and even a selection of live succulents and cacti out front. All of that, attached to a very well-stocked grocery store. I was pretty impressed, and will likely stop through anytime Im passing through the area. The deli alone makes it worthwhile.

Excellent food! You have to try their meats. And a local secret... they have a great selection of Napa wines. Give their awesome produce a try too. You will not be disappointed!

Best quality meat and seafood in Aptos by far

Great local store. Very well stocked.. even vegan jerky! Staff is very friendly. If I lived in Aptos I would shop there for sure

Best coffee in town, besides Petes and my house where I serve Petes.

Amazing selection for being a smaller store. Always friendly, and always much easier and nicer than the other grocery store options locally. Only downside is it’s a bit pricier, more high end products and that’s often not in my budget.

I mostly visit the Peets coffee inside the store but end up buying from the food bar always warm food

Expensive but convenient for the Rio del Mar neighborhood

Its a very good, upscale, local market. It is small but fairly well stocked for a market this size. Seafood selection is small but usually excellent and its my go to seafood place now. Wine selection is also quite good as is their cheese collection. Prices are higher than local big chains, but its pretty good stuff. They always have plenty of checkers working so waiting in line is rare.

Top of the line produce, superlative meat, compulsively fresh seafood, comprehensive deli, broad international foods, sharp wine and beer selection, and super friendly staff. Competitive prices. My wifes favorite store, which is a high praise.

They somehow have everything in this place. Youll pay but the service and selection is very rad.

Ive been shopping here since 1987. Meats and fish are much better than Safeway though prices can be higher though not always. Most other brand name groceries are less expensive than Safeway. There are no store brands that chain markets have. And seniors get 10% first Tuesday of the month. If youre familiar with Shoppers Corner - then Deluxe is very similar.

Awesome deserts from bakery to choose from.

Good local supermarket. Real meat counter with butchers. Good selection of wines, beers, produce etc. Hot bar, deli, and Peets Coffee counter when youre in a hurry or just dont feel like cooking.

This is a wonderful grocery store. Produce and meats are top quality. The deli section is great, with good to-go items for dinner. But Ive got to knock off one star due to high prices.

Those of us who live in mid- and south-county are so fortunate to have Deluxe Foods at our disposal.Finest quality meats, fish, and produce, a well curated selection of dairy, dry goods and local products such as Mariannes ice cream.Clean, well lit facility and cheerful, helpful staff.You may pay a few cents more for some items than you would at a chain supermarket, but the difference in quality makes it a bargain.

We love this place as a munchies and sandwich shop. They always have wonderful produce. We would recommend this place as a mini-mart with healthy options.

I great local grocery store. More pricey then the big chain grocers but has a great beer selection high quality deli and meat department. Parking is way better then aptos in Safeway. Staff is always nice and helpful and lines generally short.

Best local grocery in Santa Cruz County. Great deli and meat market, produce and cheese. Friendly people. Cant be beat. Prices are higher than chain stores, but worth it.

You have to be rich or in a real big hurry to shop here. If you thought Safeway prices are legalized robbery then wait til you see their prices. Higher quality yes but not better value.

DeLuxe is a wonderful store. The selection is great in every department. Good organic produce, which is important to me. I like the friendly staff; I do wish they made an effort to learn customer’s names. I’ve been shopping there for decades; no one calls me by name. I make a point of using the names of the staff I interact with.I am very impressed with the contributions deLuxe makes to the community. Great fireworks and work with our schools.Nothing could deter me from shopping at deLuxe!

This is a wonderful market, though small. Produce is excellent, meat/fish counter is top-notch, and they have a wonderful gourmet cheese selection. There are always plenty of checkers and you can get out fast. Only bad news is that is is more expensive than say Nob Hill or Safeway but you get what you pay for.

I have only been one time. The person who helped us try to find what we were looking for was very polite. But the checker we got was rude and dismissive. I was upset enough to not want to go back. Prices were okay. Selection was decent.

They almost always have the products I want. May cost a little more for some things but its worth it to find what I need at one stop. They also carry Harris Ranch beef which is a product well-known and beloved by those of us who are Central Valley transplants!

This is a genuine local market, with long-term employees. The produce is fresh and locally grown for the most part. It is within short driving distance of some of the most ideal fruits, vegetables, fishing and ranching territory of the U.S. Or grab some of the local wines and a sandwich, then head for the beach about a mile away.

Best deli and butcher in Aptos. Prices fit the locale, help is awesome, go here if you want to avoid the horror of Safeway up the street.

Nice helpful staff I recommend for everyone.

This is a nice family owned grocery store just off Highway 1 on Rio Del Mar Avenue. Prices are higher than Nob Hill / Safeway; the younger staff are friendly and courteous. Parking is a headache.

Prepare to pay. This is a little upscale with limited selection but caters to unique foods. Good in a pinch though.

Great grocery experience. The type of place you go where everybody knows you. Great deli and near department with lots of fresh cheese and bakery items. Hot bar with fresh soup and food. Petes coffee inside as well. Prices a little higher than Safeway or a chain but you pay for a quality experience.

The produce is wonderful. Theres unique varieties of specialty items when planning dinner parties. Everyone is friendly and their staff are helpful,professional and dont rush me.

Great deli. Best fresh meat section I have ever seen. Produce beautiful. Soup and salad bar high quality. Eat outside at a table or take it to go. This is a beach picknik that everyone will envy. Premade sandwiches or have one custom made.

Love getting the unique foods that you cant find at stores like Safeway.

I give it 4 stars because it has an old-style butcher counter with good quality Meats and the produce is also very good with good variety. The bakery deli section is good too.Otherwise its overpriced for normal groceries.

The best grocery store in town

Not sure why this store has such high reviews! I always try to avoid shopping at this store, but unfortunately its the closest store to my house. Its been the same for many years; mostly grumpy employees, everything is overpriced, very little organic food, a large meat department with NO organic meat and mostly FARMED seafood. The kind of store you would expect to find in a rich part of San Jose. Maybe they survive because they are right at a freeway off ramp, and they catch unsuspecting shoppers and tourists.

Marc Monte & Jorge Sierra bring a great market to a fine community. Donating generously to local schools & organizations, it makes it real to select from excellent produce, quality meats, bountiful cheeses, and fresh breads and prepared foods. Well Done!
